I enjoyed Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code, but some of his later work has been a bit uninspiring. Does anyone have any author/book recommendations in a similar genre?

I might; but first you'd have to clarify for me what exactly you feel his genre to be? IMHO, he's rather an ineffectual writer who made a splash via one of the biggest publishing flukes ever. A one-off who spawned a plague of copycats all seeking the same fiscal rewards he seized (Baldacci, etc). If you simply want top-notch international thrillers (which he neither exemplifies nor represents) we can all probably recommend many excellent titles; but if you want specifically more of his religio-art-history type stuff..popes jumping from helicopters.. well I myself wouldn't be able to advise you. Others here can, though...

I've been enjoying books like Chris Kuzneski's Payne & Jones series, and Steve Berry's The Templar Legacy.

I would recommend the Sigma Force series by James Rollins. Lots of historical treasure hunts, with mostly Christian artifacts, plus technology galore. The first book is Sandstorm, which wasn't my favorite, but the books get better.

Anything from Ken Follett. Dan Brown sucks.

I love James Rollins and Steve Berry. They are good friends as well. Rollins is a lot of science with a little history. Berry is usually a lot of history with a little science.

I didn't think much of the Da Vinci Code. I have not read any of his other books because this book didn't encourage me to I cant understand what all the hype was about.

I'd recommend The Colombus Affair by Steve Berry

I steered clear of the hysteria concerning Da Vinci Code and found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable read.
To me, Angels and Demons was the same story..sort of a 'practice run'. For something completely different, try Ashley Ream's Loosing Clementine...really great read.

Fred By the way, Ream's book is not the genre you requested but I couldn't help myself. It's a great read. ...more

..and I'll apologize. I did see that you are looking for something in the same genre and Loosing Clementine absolutely does not fit that category. Still....

Tell No One by Harlan Coben
