Karen, Jen and I are starting a buddy read for Pivot Point on Monday Aug. 5th!

This buddy read is open to everyone who would like to join us!! There are no set chapters per day, we just read at our own paces and start each post with how far along you are, i.e., Chapter #, %, using spoilers where needed. Have fun!

My granddaughter hijacked my Nook tonight so I didn't get a chance to start this yet! Hopefully she has her own Nook charged for tomorrow night! ;-)

40% into this book It took me awhile to figure out what was going on But when I did I thought it was a great idea

Stopped at Chapter 3 last night since I didn't want to accidentally stay up til 4am reading for the 3rd night in a row.

So far very readable. Love Laila.

Just finish this book thought it was great I was hooked on this book the Minute I started

At 16% (stopped at Chapter 7), the dual timeline is so cool.

I finally started it and I'm at 55%. Loving this one so far, so addictive! (view spoiler)[ I really love the dual timelines, and trying to guess what's going to happen--so I have bad feelings about this "Poison" guy getting revenge on Laini while Addie is in the timeline with her dad. I'm also very scared that Duke is the one who injured Trevor. So in either timeline, I am kind of thinking that Addie is screwed! I like the timeline with Trevor better myself, I like Trevor way better than Duke! (hide spoiler)] This one is so suspenseful--I may have to stay up late to finish it!

Up to Ch. 10 thoughts: I love all of the characters so far. Out of (view spoiler)[Duke and Tucker, I think I like Tucker more. Something about him covering for her when she was uncomfortable at the football game was just mega sweet. I like Duke too though. (hide spoiler)]. Laila is just awesome. :) If I had to choose between the Norm & Para worlds, I'd probably go with Norm. (view spoiler)[The Para is cool, but I don't know if I could deal with having a power myself (like how Telepaths go slowly insane) or having Perceptives change my reality. (hide spoiler)]

Can't wait to start it! I seem to be on the never ending book right now *sigh* hopefully the end shows up soon so I can start this one. It's one of those books where its not so bad that you have to stop reading it, and not so great that it makes you read faster....it's just one of those books you want to see what happens.

I also need to start this one. Geez... I'm so behind. Haven't had a lot of reading time this week. :-(

I forgot to update my thoughts! LOL I finished already, I stayed up late to finish. It is so addictive. Make sure you have time to read it when you start, because you won't want to put it down!

Final thoughts (view spoiler)[ Okay, I just knew something bad was going to happen no matter which timeline she chose. Talk about having to pick the lesser of two evils! I think in the end she made the right choice, although it sickens me that she had to be with Duke that whole time, and not Trevor! (hide spoiler)]

On Addie (view spoiler)[ I really like Addie as a MC, and thought she was fun and spunky in a nerdy sort of way. She actually reminded me a lot of myself in high school! (hide spoiler)]

Laini (view spoiler)[ I actually didn't like Laini that much, but I definitely didn't want her to die! That part at the end totally freaked me out, it felt so real at that point! I hope she improves with the next book! (hide spoiler)]

Duke (view spoiler)[ GAG me! I didn't like this boy from the get go--enough said! (hide spoiler)]

Trevor (view spoiler)[ OMG, TREVOR....I totally loved him! He was the most awesome guy ever, and treated everyone with respect and dignity, even when things were dumping on him a lot! I was so so sad when I realized she was going to have to erase him completely. :( (hide spoiler)]

The narrative (view spoiler)[ This was the best part of the book for me, how it flip flops in each chapter to each perspective timeline. And the parallels that ensue, especially as we get closer and closer to the end of the story. Really brilliantly written! (hide spoiler)]

I gave this book 5 stars, I absolutely LOVED it!!

I got 3% in last night. Hahah! It was midnight and as soon as I got a few pages in I knew I was in trouble. It took everything I had to stop! As Jenny said somewhere, this is one of those books that you can't stop reading once you start. Thanks for the warning, Jenny! I saw why last night and glad you had said that!

I'm at about 60%. First off, I had trouble realizing that we were in Addie's "search" while everything is happening.

Next off - I'm speculating all over the place. (view spoiler)[Is Laila the one who Poison killed? Did Duke become Addie's boyfriend so he could use her to figure out his future (at college)? What does her dad really do, and is he investigating this Poison guy for both sides? Is Laila dating Duke in the Addie-lives-with-her-dad timeline? (hide spoiler)]

I'll have this done in a couple of hours, so I guess all the questions will be answered. I can't stop reading!

See!! So glad I stopped when I did. Hehehehe.... Hmmm... wonder if I can play hookey from work this afternoon?? Probably not. :( But maybe tomorrow??

Its so addicting! I was trying to figure it all out, too, Jen! Very suspenseful, almost like a mystery! I loved that element of it!

Just finished it. Great story! My thoughts:

Final: (view spoiler)[I'm with you Jenny, I felt like it was going to be an impossible choice. Actually, the whole plot (although very enjoyable) kind of fell apart for me there at the end. About 2/3 of the way through, I felt like I knew Duke was going to be the jerk. But I have to say that I had no idea about Bobby. I honestly thought it was Poison that was the villain. Addie: (view spoiler)[I loved her personality. But I did start to get this picture of her being the perfect-gorgeous-girl-who-has-no-idea stock character. I think it was the dialogue that saved her. When she started kissing those boys, knowing what she was doing (after only having kissed one boy), I felt a tiny bit like I'd been fooled into thinking she wasn't a stock character when she really was. But having said that, I loved the way she dissed Duke in the end. The best thing about her was that she didn't take any crap from anyone, and she was mature. (hide spoiler)]

Laila: (view spoiler)[Typical best friend. A bit cardboard cut-out. Comic relief. Sole purpose is to make Addie shine. Take your pick. (hide spoiler)]

Duke: (view spoiler)[I kind of liked him in spite of his being a jerk. I don't think he was completely self-serving, and he did have some good intentions. Not that they saved him or that he didn't make very bad choices. But he was sweet to Addie. And he didn't push her into telling him about his future. He was just charming, and I feel like she could have cut him some slack. I didn't buy that whole "I can't even remember his name" business with Trevor. I think they were friendly and Duke may have actually even liked him in a compatriot kind of way. Duke wasn't entirely unsympathetic (hide spoiler)]

Trevor: (view spoiler)[Perfect, perfect, how many ways can you say perfect? When he told Addie that she couldn't choose the future with him, I was a goner. Love, love, loved his character. Maybe he was a little too perfect even, but who cares? And where was he when I was in high school? (hide spoiler)]

All in all I'm going with 4.5 stars. That half star is solely because I had some trouble figuring out who was speaking some times. The dialogue would continue, and I had to go back and try and decide who was saying it based on what had just happened and who had just spoken.

GREAT BOOK. So glad I read it!

Maybe I just don't like his type, but I was extemely annoyed with him in the beginning (hitting Addie in the head with a football??? What's up with that? He could have broken her nose or something!)Then as the story went on, I could tell something wasn't right. He wasn't evil or anything, like Bobbie, but influencing Addie and then her BEST FRIEND, Laila, was stupid, stupid, stupid! I am so against "posers" and that is what he seemed like to me. Who is the real Duke? Does he even know? (hide spoiler)]

I didn't have any issues with the dialogue that I remember, Jen, but maybe I just was so absorbed that I didn't notice! What did you think of the flip flopping narrative between the two different futures?

I have to say I'm mad she chose (view spoiler)[the Duke timeline. I don't even feel bad about Laila dying. She should've stayed with Trevor (hide spoiler)]!!

Waiting until 2014 for the sequel is going to be the death of me. Such a well-written book with amazing characters!

Yeah, but her (view spoiler)[hanging out with Bobby after what Addie saw him do is pretty awful...she kinda started being rude to Addie when she started hanging around Bobby. I think if she wouldn't have died, they would have stopped being friends (hide spoiler)].

Duke: (view spoiler)[OK, I have to concede your point on hitting Addie in the head with a football. At least he did tell her to duck. The thing that bothers me there isn't that he hit her in the head, but rather that he wasn't the one doing the throwing. Maybe that's why it happened. Overall, a poser and a jerk is a poser and a jerk in the end, even one with good intentions not to hurt anyone. I was just giving him the benefit of the doubt on that front. But he still was a jerk.

Trevor, on the other hand, was amazing and such a contrast. I wish he had been stronger about telling Stephanie to back off. For a highly successful football quarterback, he didn't have much of the cockiness I would have expected. A shoulder injury wouldn't have humbled him quite that much. Did you take his distance from Addie as that? I think he got painted as more dreamy than not just because of the comparison to Duke. The whole quarterback thing coupled with angsty artist - although a nice combination - didn't seem very realistic to me. (hide spoiler)]

Once I got the idea of the two POV's, I really, really liked them. This is such a great idea. Is it going to be a series or will there be companion novels? I'll definitely be reading the next one (if there is a next one) regardless! I really loved this book!

It is going to be a series, the next is one , and it picks off where this one left off. (view spoiler)[ Addie and Laila go to visit Addie's dad in Dallas on their school break. They meet Trevor and his gang, but things are very different this time around--Addie is drawn to him, but Trevor is very suspicious of her. Meanwhile, Laila is trying to learn how to restore memories. (hide spoiler)] Comes out next year some time.

I'm about 11% in and really like it so far. Love the idea of the two POV's. Love the whole idea of the two different "lifestyles"...

It's gonna be two POVs (Addie & Laila), but not a Search.

I'm already on Chapter 30! Love it so far. At first I didn't get the two different points of view. I thought she was just going to visit her Father lol, then I'm like, well that doesn't make any sense. And then as I'm reading on I'm like...defiantly should stay with mom, Duke is soooooo dreamy hahahaha (you would think I was 12) and then as I'm reading, I'm like...oooooooooooohhhh better stay with your dad not the mom, Duke is bad news! Trevor is much better now that Stephanie isn't in the picture. If there is a series with this book I'm defiantly going to read it.
The one thing that bothers me about the book tho...and maybe im just not there yet, is them not explaining why they have these powers, why they have been separated, how is it that none of the normal know that there are mind powered people living among them and why do the mind powered people get to know that there are Norm's? How is there a compound and no normal person knows what it is? is it invisible? it doesn't make sense that if no one can know about it that they would let them enter society with their powers to play football. Im hoping they explain this soon, I'm pretty sure I didn't skim any parts in this book, I've been pretty interested since the start. Defiantly a great read! Thanks for sharing!

Alright, finished it, answers sort of answered, of why they have the enhancements but not how no one notices this so called "compound." Anyway, great book, loved it from beginning to end. Can't wait till Feb when the second book comes out!

I think they allude to the fact that the Perceptives make it seem like it's just mountains. Their influence keeps them from being found out.

I'm in about 53% finally. Really loving the two realities. At first I thought this was going to be about choosing boys. Ugh. But I finally see the mystery element with the Poison character. It's freaking 3 am and I have an early day and a HUGE busy day tomorrow but have insomnia. So I keep turning the light back on and reading. ;-)
