Chimney - yes you MUST!! There are about 9 Moomin books. I started with "Comet in Moominland" but apparently there's one called "The Moomins and the Great Flood" which preceded that and has only just been published!

Did anyone see the programme about Tove Jansson on TV a few months ago? She was actually an accomplished artist who latterly tried to "kill off" Moomintroll several times (reminded me of Conan Doyle and Sherlock Homes.)The early Moomintroll cartoons were propaganda anti-Nazi cartoons! She seems to have been a fascinating and brave person altogether.
