2 and 3. The Winter of Our Discontent and To a God Unknown by John Steinbeck
4. The Anatomy Lesson by Philip Roth
5. To Show and to Tell: The Craft of Literary Nonfiction by Phillip Lopate

I loved all those books although I have read them in the past. Seems like we have similar tastes!
Hard to say what is my most favorites, but with mysteries and thrillers I liked Natchez Burning by Greg Iles, I am Pilgrim by Terry Hays, The Good Girl by Mary Kubica. In literary fiction, I liked We are Called to Rise by Laura McBride, The Bees by Laline Paull, and Prayers for the Stolen by Jennifer Clement.

Read Martin Amis "Zone of Interest" and J.M.Coetzee's "Childhood of Jesus" and neither did anything for me -- way below their best
Short story: finally read Melville's "Bartleby" -- utterly amazing
Finally read "Jane Eyre" -- loved it
And enjoyed Rowling's two thrillers under name Robert Galbraith, will read new one for sure

1-4 Karl Ove Knausgård's My Struggle (Vol. 1-4)
5 Salinger by David Shields
Honorable Mention (I'm not including these two in my top five because my wife wrote them and I don't want to be accused of not being objective) J.A. Carter-Winward's Grind and No Apologies.
Another Honorable Mention to Julian Barnes for Nothing to Be Frightened Of.
