Just checking, the first post states that this (and Jane Austen) runs from 1 August. Today is actually 1 September. Was that an error, or can we use the books we read in August?
For the country one Barbara, where do I classify this one:
Born in England, died in South Africa, lived in England originally, but divided the last 20 years of his life living between Australia and South Africa? Can I use South Africa?
Also Joy Adamson. Born in one of those bits of the Austro Hungarian empire that is now the Czech republic. Can I use Kenya and I assume murder counts as an accident?
Is there any chance we can extend the time line on this challenge to 31 January? I know I'm going to battle to be able to do this one and Jane Austen between studies, work etc and would love to do both.

@ Varla Fiona: I meant September. I will make the adjustments. Thanks for pointing it out!
@Carolien: Use the country that the author identified with. Most people when asked identify with one country.
How would Kenya count for either the Austro Hungarian Empire or the Chech Republic?
Use the country that wasa in use during the author's life.
S**t I foregot to include murder. Yeah use it as accidental death.
These challenges were meant to be short and thus we set the duration for 3 months or shorter. I don( mind to set it for 4 months, but I don't know how the othrs feel about it.

This one is a bit harder so I don't mind it if it is extended to 4 months. Anyone else have an opinion?
Did I make it too hard? I didn't want it to be just reading books written by dead people. So I thought to give it something extra.
Um, can i just point out that 1 Sep until 31 December is already 4 months. I have no problem with it going until end of January, just realised that it would be 5 months.
I realise we wanted to keep them short, but we don't normally run two of these challenges concurrently. Even with some overlap, it will mean reading probably about 15 books between the two challenges. Also we aimed at 5-7 tasks originally.
These are two really interesting challenges so I would like to do both, because you have put a lot of thought into these tasks.

I am so loosing track of time lately. You are completely right. Let's keep it at these four months and if we need to extend it we can always do that in december.
@Lauren: I am glad you like it!

But not just this year have authors died who will be missed and read forever. So to suit our actions to our words: let's read some of the books by author who are no longer with us.
This challenge will run from 1 September 2013 untill 31 December 2013.
Tasks:
1) Read a book by an author who died in 2013.
2) Read a book by an author who died in the period 2011-2012.

Of course the criteria may overlap. So you can read a debut novel by a female author from the country where you were born that has committed suicide.
Good Luck!
