Alex (alexjg42) | 3 comments I struggle to believe that the GWJ ŷ group isn't discussing anything. So tell us what are you reading?

Taylor (tboon) | 2 comments I'm currently reading 4 books:

Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel - so far it is fantastic (about halfway through it)

The Year's Best Science Fiction edited by Gardner R. Dozois - I read this when it comes out every year, have since the early 90s. A lot more hit-or-miss for me this year than usual.

The Stars in Shroud by Gregory Benford - Picked this up in some e-book bundle. Pretty good so far (about 1/3rd of the way into it).

The Ottoman Centuries by John Patrick Douglas Balfour - big heavy history book, been struggling through it; I have some problems with it that I will save for my "review" (well, post-read random nonsense I try to write after I finish a book).

Alex (alexjg42) | 3 comments I find it difficult reading more than one book at a time. If a story gets boring in one book and exciting in another then I start dreading the idea of ever going back to the prior book even though the boring part could only be a few pages long.

Currently reading The Wishsong of Shannara - Terry Brooks. It's a lot like the previous 2 books in the trilogy, but I love it none the less.

Erik (wordsmythe) | 3 comments Franco Moretti's "Graphs, Maps, Trees" and Espen Aarseth's "Cybertext" are getting a lot of my attention right now.

We're working through Game of Thrones on Audible.

How is GoT on audio? Is it easy enough to keep up?

Yeah, I think so, though we'll often restart from the beginning of a chapter rather than pick back up from right where we left off.

Dudleysmith | 2 comments Dead tree: Blue Remembered Earth - Alastair Reynolds (rereading)
Kindle: Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen (rereading)
Audible: Proven Guilty - Jim Butcher (read the book)

The sort of sequel to BRE comes out later this month, so I'll probably read that next.

message 8: by Joseph (new)

Joseph Inzirillo (chapter37) About to start Heinlein's "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress".

I'm reading that and 9 other books....

Chris Novotny (chrisnovotny) | 1 comments Any GWJ’ers still out there? Im reading “League of Princes #2: Hero’s Guide to Storming the castle with my kids, and reading “Navigating without a Map or Compass by myself... the latter is a bit of a slog, unfortunately...

Andrew (anyberg) | 1 comments I'm out there! Just joined the group actually. Struggling with getting back to reading habits, so most of the books I get through are still audiobooks. Currently listening to The Lies of Locke Lemora and theoretically reading Every Heart a Doorway, though I haven't cracked it yet.

message 11: by Dudleysmith (new)

Dudleysmith | 2 comments I also exist. I've just finished "Lies Sleeping", the 7th Peter Grant book, and I'm going through Ian Mortimer's "Time Traveller's Guide to {Medieval / Elizabethan / Restoration} Britain" books, which are fascinating (the conceit is they're like a tourist guide for visiting those periods so they tends to be more human / social history rather than just talking about the monarchs and wars). Then I'm going to read "Elysium Fire" by Alastair Reynolds.

message 12: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (tboon) | 2 comments I'm still here. I'm still reading too many books at once.

message 13: by Erik (new)

Erik (wordsmythe) | 3 comments Just finished yet another Fred Rogers bio. I find that bios of people I look up to really help buoy my
spirit. Also poetry.

I mean, you could click through to my activity if you want to know more about the weird stuff I read, but that’s the gist.
