RandomAnthony | 14537 comments Today I learned that if I open my yogurt facing away from me I don't squirt it all over my shirt.

Well, actually, I learned that a while ago, in theory, as I squirted yogurt all over myself a dozen times, but I just started putting what I learned into practice today.

And what did you learn today?

¹óé±ô¾±³æ (habitseven) | 3 comments I haven't yet learned anything quite that good, Mr. RA sir.

But the day isn't over yet ....

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments Today I confirmed to myself that there are two ways to spell hurray/hooray. I was right. I KNEW it!

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

That I like Matt Costa songs, thanks Nools.

¹óé±ô¾±³æ (habitseven) | 3 comments Thanks to Jackie, I just learned something, too.

message 6: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10826 comments I learned that I can't go two full days without a diet coke (and I confirmed over the weekend, once again, that I should not drink it after 11am... muchless 7 of them).

message 7: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments my tolerance level for technology problems is decreasing more and more. if a text or email on my phone takes longer than 1 second to send i am like
"what the heck is going on!!!" and if my satellite radio in the truck blinks for a moment under the canopy while getting gas i get perturbed. our internet is glitchy today at work and my BP is going up.

i need some technology free time

message 8: by Nuri (new)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments Glad you like him, Jim!

I learned that if you don't bring your cellphone charger with you, there is suddenly a marvelous and relieving excuse to not answer your phone.

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments "i need some technology free time"
"a marvelous and relieving excuse to not answer your phone"

Yes indeed, cutting that techno-umbilical cord is def freeing at times and a sheer necessity!

I learned today that sometimes I need to let my ultra-conservative Dad talk about conservative politics and I don't have to try to correct his thinking. I can let him say his piece, and simply say, "Well, I can see your viewpoint and why you feel that's important, even if I don't agree with the solution" and leave it at that. Much less strife results.

message 10: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Oh! And I learned that the word spa is short for salus per acquum (Latin), which means health through water. I love that! (I've been channeling my inner Italian lately)

¹óé±ô¾±³æ (habitseven) | 3 comments You're really on today, Sherrie. Good stuff.

message 12: by Richard (new)

Richard | 347 comments Refreshing thoughts indeed, Sherrie.

message 13: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments So spa is an acronym?

message 14: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Yea, a Latin one... who knew they had them?

message 15: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 20 comments What I learned yesterday: Some of the best, cheapest Mexican food can be found in, of all places, Yakima, WA.

message 16: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Ha! Well the population of Mexicans there is a bit overwhelming, so it doesn't surprise me that they brought the food of their culture with them.

message 17: by Richard (last edited May 28, 2009 01:26AM) (new)

Richard | 347 comments Would you agree that this is meaningless to someone who has never been to Palm Springs?

message 18: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments I would venture that this is meaningless because Yakima is more like the ghetto of Washington.

message 19: by Richard (new)

Richard | 347 comments Why in the name of all things holy is the local football team called the Yakima Bears, when they have the world's coolest woolly mammal right there in their name?

message 20: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments the Kima's ?

message 21: by Richard (last edited May 28, 2009 07:39AM) (new)

Richard | 347 comments The Makis.

message 22: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments ah. cool mascot. although i am afraid they may be called the Yakima Lemurs in error

message 23: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10826 comments DAAAAHHHHH!!!! OMG! HE'S SO FRIGGIN ADORABLE, I COULD JUST SQUEEZE HIM (And if he hissed at me, that'd be cute, too)!

message 24: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10826 comments ::feels profusely and genuinely apologetic for brief spastic display::

message 25: by Richard (new)

Richard | 347 comments Cool internal rhyme, though - Yakima Lemurs.

message 26: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell I just learned that on GR now you can follow people you're not even friends with. It makes cyber-stalking so much easier!

message 27: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments so if someone had issue with the Yakima mascot he could say [in the voice of Inspector Clouseau:]

"I demur to the lemur"

message 28: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments ::snort::

¹óé±ô¾±³æ (habitseven) | 3 comments What are you snorting, Sherrie?

message 30: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Um... cheerios?

¹óé±ô¾±³æ (habitseven) | 3 comments Honey Nut?

message 32: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17374 comments Mod
You can now "follow" people on GR? What is this, twitter?

message 33: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Honey Nut?
Nuttin' honey... :) (actually, plain cause i'm out of the other)

¹óé±ô¾±³æ (habitseven) | 3 comments Sally wrote: "You can now "follow" people on GR? What is this, twitter?"

Quick! Look behind you!

message 35: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17374 comments Mod
Seriously. Can I know who follows me?

¹óé±ô¾±³æ (habitseven) | 3 comments Does it really matter?

message 37: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10826 comments Sally wrote: "Seriously. Can I know who follows me?"

Oh! Good question.

message 38: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i don't know how to do anything on GR except post comments and put my books in. i am ok with that

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments Oh, so creeped out by the idea of "followers"...

message 40: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17374 comments Mod
I've thought about you as I opened the last few yogurts lately, RA. You still remembering to do what you learned yesterday?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8993 comments Still, two miles is pretty impressive when you're the size of a bee!

message 42: by Richard (new)

Richard | 347 comments It's great to be supplied with the answer to a question I hadn't bothered to ask. Also, I can now tell my kids how far they have to run if they get chased by bees.

message 43: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments I was just reading about Chestnut Honey and I was wondering if it was real honey where the bees drank from chestnut trees, or honey somehow made from/with chestnuts. Hmmm..... either way it sounds yummy.

message 44: by Cosmic Sher (last edited May 29, 2009 06:30PM) (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Thank you Miss Bun. Bee expert extraordinaire. :)

message 45: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments bee-utiful

message 46: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Please mum, may I 'ave anotha?

message 47: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jesstrea) I had honey from chestnut blossoms in Italy last summer, we bought some at a local honey/beeswax shop. I am here to tell you that was divine. The very best I've ever tasted.

message 48: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments That's exactly where I was just reading it, Jessica. I guess Tuscany is famous for their chestnut trees. Oh man, dreaming of a little villa in Tuscany... (sigh)

message 49: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jesstrea) I was in Umbria, which is right next door to Tuscany. Same beautiful landscape, less tourists ;-)

(though if I remember rightly, Umbria is the one province in Italy without a coastline).

message 50: by Cosmic Sher (new)

Cosmic Sher (sherart) | 2234 comments Well, you can't have everything. Did you get to eat with the locals... any 'authentic rustic' dishes?
