Aliya Schwerner I just finished Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs (I love Mercy Thompson) and am looking for another good sci-fantasy paranormal romance thingy. I am on my way to the library this morning. What are you reading?

The Flooze (the_flooze) I re-read the Cassie Palmer series and am now in the middle of reading the newest one, Curse the Dawn.

Vamps, Mages, ancient gods, the Fey....there are so many plot twists and so much action, it feels like the book flies by. The first in the series started off very rocky--like a lot of authors, Karen Chance began with an info dump and it took a bit to get into the first book, Touch the Dark. If you decide to give it a go, you'll have to plod through about 60 pages or so of Too Much Information. Then it's much tighter and really interesting.

I'll probably start rereading Sookie Stackhouse this weekend, since I've yet to read the new one.

mlady_rebecca | 278 comments I don't believe she's planning on posting chapter 2. Although, the paperback of "Blood Noir" is out, and it includes the first two chapters of "Skin Trade". Not much new information, Anita just talks to the police in Las Vegas, telling them about the head on her desk.

Wasn't this one of the best books in that series?! I loved it and just couldn't put it down. Mercy's world just keeps getting more interesting and I like the mixture of faeries, vampires and weres.

Bummer!!!!!!
She totally said she would!
Well at least i only have to wait one more day...
...but it's going to take me FOREVER this time! Huby's out of town for ten days, so it's just me and the kiddo. And i'll only be able to read after i put her to bed, if i can manage to keep my eyes open that is...

Cathy (cathygreytfriend) I love Mercy's books by Briggs, too, and Cassie's books are also favorites. I'm reading Wicked Game now, by Jeri Smith-Ready and really liking it. It's a little dark without being depressing, has an original premise and a lot of cool music references. Check it out! I have a bunch of other good books on my shelves, too. Just look on my Urban shelf if you like the darker side of paranormal fiction the best. I also have some fun paranormal romances, if you are in the mood for something lighter. Lynday Sands is probably the best of that bunch.

The Flooze (the_flooze) Catherine: I love Lynsay Sands. She's hilarious. You're the second person to recommend Wicked Game. I'm definitely planning on checking it out!

Cathy (cathygreytfriend) Cool, hope you like it! It's becommimg one of my favorites. Plus, it says on the back cover that the author adopted a retired racing greyhound, so I have to support her even more enthusiastically! My 2 ex-racers are such good company. Let me know how you like it :)

Lily (lilithesque) Love Nightseer. It is her first book.

The Flooze (the_flooze) Catherine, I read some of the short stories she has on her website. They're background on the vamps and how they were turned. I'm interested.

But, I read the beginning chapter of Wicked Game on there too...I noticed that it's written in present tense. I can't think of anything else I've read that's been written in such a way. Struck me as odd at first blush.

Cathy (cathygreytfriend) It's weird how first person can either be very engaging or off-putting. I'm reading Red-Headed Stepchild now and just not feeling it. It's OK, but not great. The main character just doesn't feel real and the first person/present tense style makes it feel more obvious to me. But for some reason Wicked Game had an immediate energy for me. I'll be interested to see what you guys think.
