Buck (spectru) 34 The Way We Live Now by Anthony Trollope - Folks who adore Jane Austen will probably like this one. It's about London high society, pretensions, and courting for love or money. After a week I had hardly gotten past the first hundred pages of this tome. I found it dull and simply could not continue. I can die with a clear conscience without having read this one, knowing I had at least gotten familiar with it.

Buck (spectru) 17 Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra - A very long novel in two parts, likely originally two volumes. The famous bit with the windmills is brief and happens very early. Part one is better than part two, which has long boring parts. I tried three different translations - the translation matters.

Makayla, you can do it - when I joined this group I had read 13. Now a mere 3 years later, I've read the entire list

Buck (spectru) I read Catch-22 many years ago, and now I have reread it - A worthwhile reread.

Catch-22 is the most satirical of satires; It is the epitome of satire. It put me in mind of M*A*S*H (I've seen the movie but haven't read the book) if M*A*S*H had been written by Franz Kafka.
