Actually it is King who was praising The Casual Vacancy.

So far, I have only read the Harry Potter series, which I liked. Both The Casual Vacancy and The Cuckoo's Calling have been in my house, but returned to the library unread. Another time.�

I'm glad I'm not the only one who returns books to the library unread!

I sooo want to read everything, and just pick up too many.

One day, like a light bulb flashing over a cartoon character, I realized that I could check out the same library book again later; the on ice shelf was born.

Unfortunately, there are now 125 books on ice, so now I have a now shelf to flag for my mental emergency.

Mental, being the operative word!�

I loved Harry Potter! I read Casual Vacancy and really liked it too, though of course not in the same way as HP. Casual Vacancy was a good, engrossing story, though it made me sad. I'm looking forward to getting The Cuckoo's Calling eventually too :)

HAHAHA! Love your shelves and the explanation for them, Almeta. I recently created a shelf called "Priority" for my wishlist. It's supposedly going to help me decide which books on my wishlist are the priority. I've already blown it though and purchased books off my wishlist while ignoring the priority list. I think I need an intervention. Or, I need to quit looking at the Kindle deals.

I went cold turkey on the purchasing addiction after Debra and I had to move, store or dispose of over 5,000 books during "our divorce".�

I still cling to some that I have and am seeking counseling for the "must own it" gene passed down from my mother!

I turfed *shudder* a number of books when I left my ex. I had books I had forgotten I even owned. The only ones that came with me were ones I hadn't read, or the 5 star reads.

I really liked The Cuckoo's Calling. Fast paced and compelling characters and story; Cormoran Strike is the kind of detective you would want on the case for yourself; and I have had a soft spot for a detective story since I was weaned on Perry Mason and Agatha Christie as a child.

From our household, Debra took the Stephen King,(afterall she is his number one fan!) and some horror, fantasy, dystopian, erotica.

I took the favorite mysteries, thrillers, annotated classics and random just plain good.

Celebrity, non-fiction, children's, spiritual, poetry, humor, biography, all fell by the wayside.

Tells you where our heads were at!

I borrow Kings and others from Debra's household and toss a mystery or two her way on occasion. It turned out to be an amicable divorce!

I kept quite a few of the fantasy novels and my Stephen King novels, of course! And in homage to this threads topic, I kept all my Harry Potter novels and movie DVD's.

I've got to get to The Cuckoo's Calling, too! Just other books and knitting seem to take precedence! So many books, so little time!

I loved - it got a lot of mixed reviews.

I've actually loved all three in this series. Cormoran Strike is a terrific character, not to mention Robin.
