Will someone please tell me how to add a book cover image to a comment? Here is an example of what I'd like to know how to do. http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

Abigail (handmaiden) | 391 comments Right above the comment box, click on "add book/author." At the bottom of the pop-up box you can choose between "link" and "cover" ("link" is the default selection). Choose "cover," then search for your book (or search for the book, then choose "cover").

MomToKippy | 62 comments This does not work when you want to post a comment on a status. There is no add book/author link. )-:

Nothing can be done about that in this group. I'd suggest you post in the Feedback Group if you want it changed.

MomToKippy | 62 comments Just commenting on it because I recently learned how to do that but found today that it was not possible when commenting on my updates feed. Had never noticed it before.

Click "ADD BOOK/AUTHOR" above the Comment box.

1) On the BOOK tab, type the title (and author's name) in the Search box.

No results? Remove any spaces at the very end/beginning - and extra words like "author" and "by" - which may appear if you cut-and-paste the title and author into the Search box.

Too many results? Type the full title and author's name in the Search box.

2) Select the COVER button at the bottom, then click ADD beside your book.

MomToKippy | 62 comments Thanks Kris but that option is NOT AVAILABLE when in one's update feed below a friend status. It is an option here though.

MomToKippy, thanks for clarifying.

I was thinking of our group's Unsolved folder, in response in the original question. It would be helpful if more people added book links, as text or an image. This can be tricky if you cut-and-paste the title and author (or enter a prolific author). The extra spaces/etc. may prevent you from seeing any results (a problem I experienced early on).

Messages 15 and 16 were deleted because they were promoting an author and their recent book. Similar postings were found in other groups. (The content was not relevant to this discussion thread, and message 16 was a just reply to message 15.)

Spam deleted.

Les McIntyre | 13 comments This method works fine for adding a book image found on the net. But how do I add an image file from my own hard-drive? For example, how do you add an image from your PC that helps describe the book cover you are looking for?

SamSpayedPI | 2299 comments You can't add an image from your hard drive. You can add an image from a web page. Click on (some html is ok) above the comment box on the right and copy and paste the "image" formatting.

It looks something like this:

< img src="/image.jpg" width="40" height="100" alt="description"/ >

but without the spaces after and before the chevrons (if I leave out the spaces, it tries to put an image in).

You can leave out one or all of the width, height and description. I typically just put in the width: < img src="" width="90"/ >
