Tessa Yes, I think you should read it. There are a few cameo appearances from CNV, but if anything it made me enjoy CNV more. It is quite a bit darker, though. I mean, it takes place in a concentration camp.

Summer Cox I really enjoyed both of these books. They were well written, great characters, really solid plot. This definitely isn't so much a sequel as just another book set at the same time by the same author. You wouldn't have to read CNV to enjoy this one.

Georgina Monk Rose under fire is so much better. It's much more conventional but misses out all the bits I got bored with in Code Name Verity. For one , it stops talking about pilots part of the way in and is now one of my all time favourite books. It's similar to a lot of books I;ve read but at the same time totally totally different perspective too !

sam_i_be I actually much preferred CNV to Rose Under Fire. I mean, I loved them both, they were both five stars, but I just felt that CNV had a little more--pizazz, I guess. I was in LOVE with Julie, and I wasn't really in love with Rose, although I did find her a realistically drawn character, who had flaws but was still likeable. So for me, CNV was better, but I still recommend you read both.

Lynette Barfield You should definitely read it It is an outstanding book.

Leigh Rose Under Fire is much, much better than Code Name Verity. It's a darker book but the story flows more logically and the ending is better.

Patricia Both books are excellent stories about courageous women during WWII and for young adults who have not had much education about the war and the Holocaust, it is and education. I highly recommend both books and hope the author is busy with another one.

Rosie You really should! It won't ruin the 1st book :)

Laurie Read Rose Under Fire! You won't be disappointed. Both are excellent books.

message 10: by Dee (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dee I actually disliked CNV - it should have been right up my alley since I like WW2 stuff, but the book just didn't work for me - on the other hand, really enjoyed RUF...I did listen to RUF and read CNV, so I wonder if that had anything to do with it

Patrick Johns Yes, yes read it! As Laurie and others have said you won't be disappointed.

Tatyana OH GOD YES!!!!!!!!! I absolutlety love Elizebeth Wein. so talented. ww2 taken in a different view. god i love this book.

Joyce I loved it!! It was well written and historical facts were right on. I would recommend it to anyone.Amazing how Elizabeth Wein weaves history and fiction. I have not read CNV but plan to soon as I finish The Century Trilogy by Ken Follett.

HermioneHolmesofthe626Dragons It took me forever to actually start reading it after CNV, because I was scared it would never live up to CNV. I don't think it lives up to CNV but it is still a great book. The historical facts accurately woven into it are important and it was difficult to research the atrocities after I read it. Unlike CNV I never felt like there wouldn't be some semblance of a happy ending. I do wish that I felt that worry like in CVN. I wish we saw more of Karolina and I think it would have been nice to delve deeper into Roza. Like maybe talk about how some characters gave their lives to save her legs as evidence and not actually her life. There was less plane talk after you got far enough into the book which was my one complaint for CNV.
