I started this month off with one of my favorite authors, Guy Gavriel Kay. Yes, I'm reading our BOTM, Ysabel. When I finish this I will be starting the Codex Alera series (Jim Butcher) for another Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ group.

I've been reading a lot of short stories lately, and now I'm just about to start Girl in Translation, historical fiction for my offline book group. Next after that is a re-read of Ysabel for our discussion.

I just finished reading Call of Cthulhu and Other Stories by H.P. Lovecraft - loved it. Although it does tend to be all similarly dire and purple prosey, it's still lots of fun.
This past week, while going through by dad's things, I started and have almost finished The Forever War, by Joe Haldeman. Very Interesting, I'm not sure how I feel about the whole gender politics bit. I just remind myself that the book and the author are from another generation.

I love those Cthulhu books, too.

If possible, I'd like to finish up The Art of War, too. I've technically been reading it since April 2010 (tell me it's not just me!). The book is dry but alright, it's just the translation that is a snooze fest.

I picked up Ysabel for £2 yesterday :)
I finished my Ysabel re-read and now I'm almost halfway through Flora's Dare, sequel to Flora Segunda. So far I'm not liking it quite as much as the first, but still enjoying it.

Started in on Great Expectations: The Lost Toronto Blue Jays Season
Hopefully some insight into my teams lackluster performance last year.

I finished the Flora trilogy a while ago - it was really fun! and now have just finished a memoir The Kid: What Happened After My Boyfriend and I Decided to Go Get Pregnant. About to start Fair Game by Patricia Briggs. I haven't liked the Alpha & Omega books quite as much as the Mercy Thompson series, but I'm especially looking forward to this one as it's set in Boston and I always find it interesting to read books set in a place I know well and see if the author knows it as well as I do!

It was good but no real insight into why they failed
Started An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth: What Going to Space Taught Me About Ingenuity, Determination, and Being Prepared for Anything

Now I'm reading Generation Warriors

I really enjoyed Fair Game (especially the ending...no spoilers, but I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out in future books in the series!), and just earlier today finished Isaac's Storm: A Man, a Time, and the Deadliest Hurricane in History, which was absolutely fascinating history about the Galveston, TX hurricane in 1900.
I think next up is To Ride Hell’s Chasm :)

I read Isaac's Storm a number of years ago. We take so much for granted in these days of weather radar and hurricane warnings days in advance of an actual storm. This well-told story brought home what it must have been like at the time, when such a major storm could strike almost without warning, and cause almost unimaginable devastation.

Me, too!"
That's one of my all-time favorite standalone fantasy novels. Just stunning.
(PS Master of Whitestorm by Janny Wurts was just released as an ebook, after being out of print for years. Another great standalone!)

Started in on Stephenson's book Reamde

I listen to the show "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" on NPR on a regular basis and Hadfield was on a few weeks ago. He was very funny. The podcast is free to download if you're interested :)
I've been home sick for a few days (recovered in time for Thanksgiving, luckily) and have had a lot of reading time, so I'm now about 2/3 of the way through To Ride Hell's Chasm - what a ride!! Loving it just as much as I expected to :)

I finished up Furies of Calderon and I think I will read Fire Music, the second book in a duology, before resuming the Codex Alera books.

Currently continuing with Difficult Loves
For December my list had the following:
The Sirens of Titan
The Hammer
Ancillary Justice
Throne of the Crescent Moon
(in probably this order)
... but some very interesting reading group books came up for December:
Dune
Warbreaker
Cold Magic
I'm completely undecided, though I have feeling I'll get on with one of the 3 group books.
