According to the poll, December belongs to classics :)

Nominate any classic book you wish - no genre limit, but there must be at least one film adaptation based on it. If unsure, you can always pick one of the books that were already nominated.

P.S. As we announced last year, The Hobbit will be back this (and the next) year too. For those who missed last year's reading and for those who wish to discuss this year's treat in the cinemas :)

There is a Penguin edition of The Witches, so it might be said it is a modern classic. I myself am not sure, it is relatively new book, written 1984. For me, classics are at least 50 years old books, translated in many languages, awarded or at least mentioned someplace as prime pieces of superb literature. Then again, To Kill a Mockingbird is from 1960, so it is not also so "old" novel but it's so widely known it's impossible not to already view it as a classic.

What do you all think? How to tell when - or how - some novel becomes a classic?

The "what is a classic" question is a rather ongoing debate :) I'm willing to accept this one, though.

End of nominations, poll being set up!

Elena | 109 comments Lol, thanks :)
Could you post the link to the poll? I seem to be lost :S

P.S. Sorry about the nick changing back and forth, I was messing around with my profile ... all good now:)

Alana (alanasbooks) | 730 comments Wow, guys, for some reason the poll I set up didn't take, I don't know if I navigated away from the page wrong or something. It showed up right after I'd set it up, but it's disappeared. Sorry about that, I'll redo it.

Alana (alanasbooks) | 730 comments Ok, I set it up a second time and it didn't work again. So I did it a third time and it seems to be working, but let me know if that's not the case. Sorry about the hassle, guys!
