A: If you are one of several authors with the same name, you may have one or more extra space(s) between your first and last name. They are only visible on edit pages, but any books imported to the database will need to be edited to add the additional space(s).
Post in the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Librarians Group and a librarian will edit your book to match your profile.
Q: I’ve just changed the cover for my book—how do I change the cover on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ?
A: When it comes to editions that have already been published, we can’t actually overwrite the existing cover images. This is because we don’t want to delete an image that a member might have on the book they purchased. We like members to be able to add the exact edition they own to their online shelves.
That said, we will be happy to add a new edition with the updated cover image. We can designate it as the default edition on your author profile, so anyone visiting your profile or searching for your book will see this cover image first. The old edition will only be accessible through the "Other Editions" section of the main book page.
For help with cover images, post in the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Librarians Group or contact us, and someone will be happy to help.
Q: What is a “librarian? When do I need one?
A: Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Librarians are people who are dedicated to improving Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ' data. Librarians can edit book and author information, as well as combine or separate editions of books to help aggregate reviews and ratings. Certain privileges, including editing cover images, are reserved for users with librarian status and are not available to members of the Author Program.
If you get a message that you must be a librarian to make a particular edit, the best place to get help is in the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Librarians Group.
Q: How do I delete my book from the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ database?
A: Deleting published books from our system is against policy. Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ is striving to be a complete database of all published works, including works that are out-of-print. We like our members to be able to add their exact edition to their virtual shelves. Just as a library would not remove a record from its catalog, so do we not remove books from our database.
However, if your book was never published and never will be published, we might be able to remove it. Please contact us.
Q: My book has already been added to Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, but it's not showing on my author profile. How do I claim it as the author?
A: For a book to show up on your author profile, the name on the book must match your profile exactly. So a book listed with author John C. Smith won't show up on John Smith's profile.
Post in the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Librarians Group and a librarian will edit your book to match your profile.
Q: I'm a Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Author and I just received a negative review. What do I do?
A: It is Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ' belief that honest reviews (positive or negative) are crucial for the site. Low star ratings or reviews such as "I didn't like the stories/characters/ etc." are fine; but reviews that say "Don't read this book because he/she is a jerk" or something similar may receive a lower priority in our internal ranking system—and may not appear on the community-wide book page. If you find questionable content on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, please flag the item or send us a link to it, and we will look into it. To flag a review from the book page where all the reviews are shown, click on “see reviewâ€ at the bottom of the review in question. On the review page, you will see a Flag button at the end of the review next to the Like button.
Please flag reviews rather than responding directly to them. Should you respond to a negative review in a manner that is harassing, intimidating, or otherwise insulting to the reviewer, your account may come under review for deletion.
