Rebecca, Code Name Verity, and World War Z are in my TBR. I loved the Millennium trilogy. Too bad Larsson died before writing more!

Charleen (charleenlynette) | 1688 comments The Millennium trilogy was really good. I've been wanting to re-read them for so long.

I really enjoyed the Swedish movie adaptations as well. With Noomi Rapace. Far more than the U.S. version.

Hillary (hmom) | 352 comments Charleen, I loved the Millennium trilogy!!! Also watched both Swedish and US versions.

Rebecca is sitting on my shelf and hope to get to it this month.

Rosie Project is for my book club in April.

Dawn Michelle | 3476 comments I am the only person in the world who totally disliked Rebecca. Ugh.

I cannot read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I know what it is about and I find that subject very disturbing. I give HUGE kudos to those who can.

Added "Code Name Verity". :-)

There are definitely some disturbing scenes, but for me at least the overall story makes up for it. I've read other books where that isn't the case.

And my husband only saw the Hitchcock movie but he's not a fan of Rebecca either.

Yup, that would be the movie. I've never seen it though.

My local library is doing its own Tournament of Books, and Sycamore Row and The Husband's Secret were both books from the tournament.

message 16: by Dawn Michelle (new)

Dawn Michelle | 3476 comments I haven't seen the movie either, but I seem to remember the trailers for it. I tend to remember trailers/movies with Denzel. ;-)

I was judging for my local library's Tournament of Books, and those two were matched for the overall winner. For me it was no contest, but E&P ended up winning (the judges actually tied so we had to open it up to popular vote). I'm clearly in the minority for not enjoying it. But YA isn't really my thing, and contemporary YA even less so... so, grain of salt, I guess. I just didn't get what was so special about it.

I'm on a longer holds list for The Monument's Men and they only have 2 copies! Lol. I like to keep my holds list full though so I pick ones with long waits. :) I don't mind waiting. Most of the time. I've got so many other books to read that I own!

Charleen (charleenlynette) | 1688 comments I have two pieces of good news.

First, I just finished book #75: The Hound of the Baskervilles (4 stars).

Second, I'm three months pregnant.

And that leads me to one more bit of news... I'm stepping down as a moderator for the group.

Thanks to Andrea and Karol for having me. I've loved being a moderator for the past few years. But it's definitely time for me to take a step back. I'll still be around, though... at least until April, at which point who knows how much time I'll have for reading.

Oh no, you didn't like A Thousand Splendid Suns? :( Have you read other Hosseini novels? I really want to get back in my Stephen King novels. I own a TON but have only read The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Firestarter, Dolores Claiborne, and Four Past Midnight. I really want to get into the Dark Tower series. On another note, good to hear from you and how is your pregnancy going?

message 48: by Charleen (new)

Charleen (charleenlynette) | 1688 comments I read and really enjoyed And the Mountains Echoed, but I got halfway through this one and just wasn't feeling it.

Pregnancy has been... interesting. Of course, I have nothing to compare it to other than stories. My morning sickness lasted well past my first trimester (boo!) and by the time I started feeling better on a regular basis I was already starting to get big and awkward (I was amazed how different I felt even before I was obviously showing). So that "second trimester sweet spot" I keep hearing about really only lasted a few weeks. Still, everything's been 100% on track medically, so I guess everything else is just minor inconvenience in comparison.

Three months to go!
