I was under the impression (from the blurb) it would be serious and dark but of what I have read so far it's light and fun. I'm quite enjoying it but does anyone else feel that Gwen is a bit immature for her age (16/17)?

I plan on starting it later today!!

@Noella Okay I have only read a few chapters but I agree with you I feel like Gwen is immature and not really "sophisticated" like the blurb says. I hope she changes soon.

Speaking of sophisticated the blurb "Gwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time" makes me laugh out loud. There's absolutely nothing sophisticated about her.

I was gearing myself up for an emotional and epic ride but I don't think it's delivering...

I'm going to finish the other book I'm reading "This Is What Happy Looks Like" and get back to "Ruby Red" after dinner!!!

So I'm almost done with it and I have to say I have started to really like it.

Okay my mind has changed so much while reading this book. My feelings for the characters have all changed too. One minute I like the character and the next minute I hate them. I really like the book. It's different then what I thought it was going to be. In a good way.

@Lindsey I'm about half way in and I don't really like the characters. Hopefully I change my mind.

I've only got about 20% left and I haven't changed my view of the characters! The 'history' behind the time travelers is mildly interesting but in my opinion the characters lack depth and bring the whole story down.
Gwen is a bit air-headed? Her thoughts are so random. Sometimes amusing, mostly annoying. Gideon acts like he's superior and such but I feel he's got a childish quality. (view spoiler)[The church scene was a cute idea but it was out of place. Gideon professes "you're totally, absolutely extraordinary." Um... right. All this time you were condescending, thinking of her as a mere clueless child and then out of the blue you tell her this cheezy line and she's suppose to believe it? And she does?! (hide spoiler)]

I'm kind of disappointed with this read. Character development was missing in my opinion, and I didn't like anyone much.

This was an odd book for me. I liked it and hated it at times.

The characters were odd if I say. But at the same time I found myself liking them. I think for me as the book went on I started to like it.

I was going to rate it 3.5 stars but raised it to 4 stars because I enjoyed it. However @Noella I agree with you on a few parts. Some of the relationships between the characters were rushed and not developed.

I think I will read book 2, just not yet.

(view spoiler)[ The story is quite interesting though I have to say I want hooked to it from the start, it took a few chapters for me to start to like it. I like Gwyneth and Lesley, but Gideon id kind if anoying. Aunt Glenda really irritates me, what kind of mother wants their daughter in a secret society full of rude people. I really don't like anyone from the Temple, except Mr. George, he seems nice.

I'm also interested as to why Gwyneth can see ghosts, maybe it's something to do with her bring tge Ruby. (hide spoiler)]

I have the entire trilogy! I want to read the books though before I watch the movie.
