Dan in AZ | 2933 comments 1. The Associate, John Grisham. Not only was the "message" very similar to one of his earlier books, I felt the ending was very weak.

2. Blood Lines, Jan Burke. DNF (More because a couple holds came in on new releases than not liking the book).

3. Dead Silence, RWW. I like more Florida and less secret agent, but I still like the way he writes.

4. Whisper to the Blood, Dana Stabenow. I feel this is one of the most consistently enjoyable series that I read.

i totally agree, dan. it's almost like he decided, ok i'm done and that was it. i was very disappointed in the ending of the associate.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3457 comments I like Florida books that celebrate Florida as well. The RWW books started as a substitute for Travis McGee but eventually stood well on their own, and always let you know where they were taking place.
Lately, there seem to be fewer good Florida books to enjoy. I particularly miss Shames and his quirky Florisa mysteries.

I agree, I love to devour the Stabenow books and then am ready for the next one immediately. I have read nineteen Dana Stabenow books and found them all to be quite good, and some were simply stellar. Whisper to the Blood is one of the stellar books.
The Kate Shugak series will probably always be my favorite, though the Liam Campbell books are very good too.
