Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12508 comments Monster porn sounds different, doubt I'll give that a go!

message 106: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments 3 monsters decide they need to let the world know that they aren't all that bad, so get a spell to turn them into 3 hunky young men. The find a Hollywood company run by 5 hot women and ask if they'll make their story into a film, etc, to promote "monster's aren't bad". Main monster gets off with lead human woman and have the hottest sex she's ever had. Lots of times. 'Cos it's hot.

Did it make you want to read more monster porn??

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments I read the first sex scene and I must admit it was quite good. I skipped the rest. I mean you see one sex scene, you've seen them all. I'm the same with fights and car chases. I think "get on with the story"

That was how I felt reading the later books in the Clan of the Cave Bear series

The Vampire Who Played Dead (A Spinoza Novella) by J.R. Rain (2013) 3*

I'm now reading Blood Of Others by Rick Mofina (2013)
It's quite a good serial killer story.

message 122: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments Which 2 of my 8 4 stars?

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12508 comments The Penal Colony and The Back Road, really want to read The Back Road

message 124: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments The Back Road wasn't as gory as I thought it might be. For some reason I thought it would be more about killing and killers, but it was more of a mystery.
I thought both of those books were 4+

message 125: by Joo (last edited Oct 09, 2014 10:01AM) (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments It's the 9th of October and I've only read 2 books.
One is the new, not yet out, book by Alan Jones. It's a bit nasty in that it's a murder/death/kill serial killer story, but "enjoyable".

Then the one that seemed to take forever in that my reading time left from an hour down must have taken me 3 hours is
RACING JUSTICE (RUTHLESS TO WIN) by Dakota Franklin by Dakota Franklin (2013) 4*
I enjoyed this much more than the last one of hers which was too much about the racing.

message 126: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments Some more challenge books this month

Deadly Obsession (DS Mackinnon series prequel) by D.S. Butler by D.S. Butler (2012) 3*

The End Of Days (Barney Thomson Novella, #2) by Douglas Lindsay by Douglas Lindsay (2011) 3*

Alice Parker and the Secret of Arcanum Cove (Alice Parker, #3) by Nicola Palmer by Nicola Palmer (2012) 4*

Escape to the Country by Patsy Collins by Patsy Collins (2012) 4*

And I've binned a few I can't be bothered with
The Watchman by Matt Langford
The Chicken Sheds by Pat Cresswell
The Ultimate Inferior Beings by Mark Roman
Homes for Gnomes by Stewart Thompson.

There's also been a few recent purchases and a few pre-releases.

Looking at some of the dates I purchased the books, I feel that time is flying by. I can't believe I'd had that Alice Parker for 2 years.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12508 comments You seem to be doing well. Some of the ones you binned have rather unusual titles

message 128: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments Perhaps that's why I picked them up.
At some point I will decide if I want to actually delete some from my Amazon account to tidy things up.

message 129: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I really enjoyed the Watchman. :)

I contemplate that and then realise that I don't have the patience, and time could be spent reading instead!!

message 131: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments I tried The Watchman twice, but didn't get on with the way it was written.

Today I finished Trauma by Ken McClure by Ken McClure (2012) 3*. It would have been a 4 star but again, the formatting is awful. I really like this kind of book, so would like another author with lots of free books :)

message 132: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments I've cleared out 2 more unreads
The Screen Conspiracy by Maxwell Black (2012)
Four Cheeks To The Wind: The Story Of A Two Year Transcontinental Bicycle Ride by Mary Bryant (2012)
There are only 3 books left in that collection and they are ones I don't want to bin nor read yet.

There's not many in my November collection, so I will be able to get through some recent releases and test out a few authors that I have a few of but need to see if I like.

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments Promise You Won't Tell? by John Locke Promise You Won't Tell? by John Locke (2012) 3*
I like John Locke's books, they are really easy to read, but his one was not quite as good as others.

The Claresby Angel by Daphne Coleridge The Claresby Angel by Daphne Coleridge (2013) 3*
Somehow I thought this was a period drama, but it was a pair of cosy mystery shorts and they were OK at best.

Mountain Man (Mountain Man, #1) by Keith C. Blackmore Mountain Man by Keith C. Blackmore (2011) 4*
Yet another zombie story. I seem to be into them at the moment. I enjoyed this one as it was one guy with a decent hideout and a massive haul of alcohol.

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments 2014 Summary

I'm rather pleased with this challenge
Over the year I've read a total of 185 books according to my summary of the months.
Of them, 97 were old challenge ones, 49KUF/GR authors, 39 non-entity authors :)

I binned 63 books.

I might dabble a bit this year, buy checking out what I downloaded in the corresponding months in 2014, but won't do it like this year. I'd still like to bin a few a month, though.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12508 comments Wow, that's amazing. Glad you had a good year. I'm not reading as many freebies this year
