Join Sarah Jane and I as we read and discuss the prequel to the Lord of Rings Trilogy :)

I'm so glad you guys are budding reading this! I read this book at least ten times before I was twelve. It was my favorite book as a kid, along with the LOTR series. I attribute much of my love for reading to JRR Tolkien and the world of Middle Earth he created. Enjoy the read and I'll definitely stop by to chat with you as you go!

J.R.R. Tolkien is my favorite author.I own all of his books and would never part with them.

That's why it's on my list. I have only read through half of the LOTR trilogy itself (in high school), so I planned to read the prequel and trilogy FINALLY!

Same here! Although I'm on my second set of Lord of the Rings! I read my first set to death! I was like David and read it EVERY year until the movies came out. My pages literally fell out of my copies. :(

I've read these books :( I've watched the two Hobbit movies just because my brother needed someone to go and see the third one with him. Little did I know I was going to fall in love with it :) I've heard the Hobbit is a fast paced read but I've also heard that the LOTR series is hard to get into.

LOTR wasn't hard for me to get into! I thought it was incredible from start to finish :)

I have a Paperback version on hand! I'm going to try and finish Split Second before starting the Hobbit

J.R.R. Tolkien fans: I have never read any of the books. Should I start with LOTR or The Hobbit? My plan is to read them next year :)

Start with The Hobbit, it's considered as a prequel to the LOTR series :)

I agree with Tanya. The Hobbit will ease you more gently & give you a taste of Middle Earth without it being too overwhelming. Hope you enjoy it. Both The Hobbit and LOTR hold a special place in my heart and my bookshelves :)

I'm reading it for the first time too :) I've just got to finish All the Bright Plaxes first :)

It's my first time actually reading it too! I'm so excited. I have read some of the LOTR trilogy, but it was in high school and I never finished.

I failed really hard at my last buddy read, so I'm going to need all the headstart I can get! I'm going to be really busy today and tomorrow, so I may not get to reading it :(

That's great Jenny :) and okay Sarah, I might read a little bit tonight and maybe tomorrow but I'm not sure because I have a busy day :) Hopefully I'll finish by the end of the week.

I've read a little bit early in the week, but haven't had the time from Weds through today with all the family activities. If we want to start now, that's fine though. I should have no problem reading now that all the festivities are over :P

I'll start tomorrow because I'm almost done with the book I'm reading, I just don't know if I'll finish tonight or tomorrow :)
