Michael Joshua (mjoshua) | 2 comments I am new the whole process, so excuse the stupidity...
If you provide your book as a freebie for a given length of time on Amazon and there are some who want it as a paperback, I have a friend who told me that CreateSpace can help you with that, but how do you go about mailing it to the requester? I don't have a CreateSpace account so I am not familiar with them but am hoping maybe someone in this group can help me out.
Thanks!

Noorilhuda | 64 comments I'm not a senior GR / amazon member, but the most I know is that in order to create a free paperback giveaway or to send paperbacks for reviews or cafes / book stores on consignment basis or to just gift it, all you have to do is publish the book via Createspace (they will allot an ISBN number to your book so you won't have to purchase a pack for $100/- - there are pros and cons to it, but as a newbie it's your call).

To publish it, go to createspace.com and then log in, download an Mword (doc/docx) file that is properly formatted, download a cover or pick a generic one from CSP and click for review. CSP will send an email confirming the review as either successful or 'few problems detected' (which can be nothing really, or something to do with cover dimensions). You can digitally review the 'proof' or ask for a copy (also called an ARC) that you send over to review forums.

After you okay a proof, your book will appear online - CSP, then amazon, then Barnes & Noble (according to distribution channels you selected) etc. - but it will take time - like a week to properly display all features everywhere.

Now you can go back to CSP and order a book or 10 books (it will cost you less than clicking it on Amazon which is what customers are supposed to do). And send them to whosoever you want them to, by adding a shipping address.

That's what I know. And that's what I've done. For e.g. for my new book Catharsis published by using CSP, the amazon retail price is set at $10.99 (because the pages were 272 and I could not price it any lower than that - amazon wouldn't allow it) so as a customer that is what I will pay (minus shipment) - but through CSP, as the author of the book, I can order the book for $4 (excluding shipment which is also peanuts in U.S. compared to getting it all the way here in Pakistan) and then order as many books I want, and send them to whosoever I want (stores, cafes, authors, reviewers).

Robert Villegas | 13 comments The upload would have to be in .pdf (Adobe Acrobat) format, not MSWord. Other than that all true, except that shipping time is pretty slow unless you pay extra for expedited shipping which is also not very fast. It might be better to order multiple copies and have them sent to you and then you can ship them directly so you can get them there next day or two day service. More expensive but getting a review might be faster.
