Do you want to set up a thread in the group or should we just comment on our updates?

Lol. Sorry. I saw your comment on my review after I had already written this... 😁

Absolutely not! It will probably take me 1 to 3 days to read. Do you want to do the last weekend of the month? or the 29th, 30th and 31st?

Hi all,

A few Buddy reads being planned, and here's another for those that want to join. Andrea CP, Mariana and I will be starting Lord Edward's Mysterious Treasure: The Breton Adventure on the 12th. All are welcome, and I do feel that each book in this series stands pretty well on its own.

Giselle,
14th? How would that be? And I'm very new here, so you'll have to tell me what to do, how this works etc....

If I'm too much for you, that's okay, I understand. I'm trying not to be needy. I'll be putting this on my TBR list regardless.

Thanks :D Shannon

First off, don't be silly. I love buddy reads! It's probably my favorite aspect of this whole group. And I had no idea what to do when I first joined too.

I set up a topic (linked down below) When we discus the books we either plan out how much we want to read each day or we wing it. (I'm fine with either) We just put the Chapter and then a spoiler block out. (you can see how to do this from the (some html is ok) above you comment box when you're commenting.) And then we discus and talk about the book!

Example:

Thoughts through end of chapter 3

sounds great....I'll give it a go. I'm not a terribly fast reader, but I'm getting this on audible so any length should be fine. I'm so excited! Thank you for your patience :D

Alright! It is a great read, IMO. Does tomorrow work for you to start?

message 172: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Golden | 155 comments For those wanting to reset your palate and maybe get past the book blahs, you might tackle an out-of-the-box rural Regency romance that focuses solely on the lower class during that time period.

It's called Secrets Of Greenoak Woods . I don't remember the story being heavy on explicit sex, and the romance builds slowly and is woven throughout. Plus there are so many other good characters and secrets. I wrote a short on it. I'd like to join in a BR and re-read it. The hero is not an alpha male, but he is one of my favorites.

My only caution is that you read the preview to make sure you can get used to the way the story's written in the dialect of the time. I've often thought it might be fun in a BR to decide how to pronounce some of the words. But I got through them just fine. Still, best to check for yourself, though.

Yes, I think I did share my reviews here. Those stories are really good reads. If you ever feel like a BR with either, let me know. I am waiting to reread them.

message 179: by Giselle (new)

Giselle Bradley (bradleygiselle) | 172 comments I don't know where to post this so I'm posting it here. I've started a book club that is part Historical Romance and part Fantasy. My February picks are Once Upon a Marquess & The Perilous Gard (which is technically a Historical Romance too). So if anyone wants to pop over to the group and join in, I'd absolutely love that. I also wouldn't mind setting up a discussion here if someone wants to read Once Upon a Marquess.

Here is the ŷ group: /group/show/...

And I also just posted my announcement here on my bookish YouTube channel explaining about it.

Thank you! There are a lot of readathons going on this month that I'm trying to participate in and then on top of that a bunch of my library holds came off all at once.

The readathons in case anyone is interested are.
#UnicornReadathon
#Cozyathon
#FeministLitFeb
#Faebruary
#TimeHopAthon
#InLoveAthon
#ContemporaryAthon

and 2 more that I'm not participating in because I only heard of them today are:
#Femmeuary (which I guess technically most of my books fit into anyway...)
The Romance Readers Readathon

So yeah. Basically all the readathons are happening this month,

It's a super chill readathon where the goal is to just read books with magical creatures in them or on the cover or in the title.
