Hope so it's nice being able to give more books, and I'm not sure how much difference the tax will cause this year.

That's what I'm waiting for. It makes for a Merry Christmas for me and my giftee!

Karen (bookfanatic55) | 901 comments Wow, people are gifting already. I hope my person forgives me but I'm going to hang in there for Cyber Monday because last year as I recall it wasn't just ARe that was offering the fun deals, Amazon and Kobo had sales going on too not as good as ARe but still there were some lovely bargains to be had and that makes for more gifts to give.

Yeah, that should help now if I could just get her to put more books on her self. I don't know her and we're not already friends so I really need a little more insight as to her reading taste and friending her would be such a total give away, lol.

I know, I don't mind getting or giving random books but I want to try and make it something that I honestly think they'll enjoy and my taste can be a bit on the eclectic side so if I base choices strictly on what I think they may end up hating me for it or worse just really not enjoying and that would make me sad :-(

I tried that. I think my person is using a different email address, because when I searched it came up as not belonging to a GR member.

I'm sending you a quick pm Heather. =D

BWT (shadow0713) | 49 comments My SS recipient was a tough one to shop for, so I got them an Amazon gift card thinking that they'd be able to buy exactly what they want...but it's gone unclaimed.

I'm starting to worry. Of course there's no way to ask them if they received it without giving away it was me...so hopefully they will check their email soon and see Amazon has a gift card for redeeming.

Hint to all- check your email spam file!

You can always message me and I can send them a reminder if it doesn't get claimed!

There's a thrill to browsing someone's elfster and gifting as well as the obvious receiving nice things

Nope, you aren't the only one. I keep adding books to my to-read list. I'm trying not to buy any until the exchange is over, but temptation is hard to overcome. I have over forty books already purchased and waiting to be read in my Kindle.

Samantha (samel) | 129 comments Is it bad that I plan on getting myself a book for my birthday? LOL. I want to be my own elf. I have this don't get yourself stuff syndrome that I swear comes from being a social worker. I even feel bad when I order myself Chinese o_O

Well. Briefly. And then I feel happy LOL.

xD And if someone says it's okay, I'll feel better about myself. I'm a strange bird... I'm working on it. -snorts-

That is part of the reason for the exchange! I know I hesitate to spend $15 on books for myself, but I'll blow that easily on another person. :)

I hear you. I often find myself being all grabby hands over a book and then I have a conversation similar to this in my head:

No it's not bad at all. My birthday is right near Christmas but in years when I have the funds I always get myself a gift.

Also have a near Christmas birthday here. It sad when you have to endure the dreaded combined birthday/Christmas gift and sadder when you can only afford to give yourself that kind of gift.

My mom has the same birthday as you (Dec 22) and I ALWAYS make sure and give her separate gifts. Plus my daughter is the 17th, so people are already starting to combine her birthday and Christmas, which she doesn't understand (she's going to be 5.) I was always stuck with Halloween-themed stuff because my birthday is two days before Halloween. It sucks when you're born close to a holiday.
