I just made a link, but I'm not sending out mass invites until the end of October... if I can wait that long!

Since I do ebooks, I use a dummy address.

I'm not sure! I just put down my email because I only want ebooks!

I also couldn't remember!

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Just a hint, though I understand that people like their emails to remain private, if you do have your email listed and you've added your birthday on Elfster people from the list will get notification of your birthday. When I do, I like to check out wishlists and send out small gifts or Amazon gift cards. I've done several this year for birthdays because I was notified by Elfster.

Lisa (lisamnz) Hey, I was wondering if it's open to people who live in countries other than America where the postage could be quite a lot?

It is mostly an ebook exchange, so the answer is YES! We've had people from all over the globe.

And it's super easy to gift from ARE and Amazon. I'm not sure if other publishers also allow gifting.

Gifting from ARe is the easiest with international people. Amazon is a little tricky with it.

❶Ĵʴ❶ (ajpayne75) | 153 comments Is there any benefit to creating a new wishlist on elfster? I just linked to my GR wishlist so I only have one place to update if I go on another book buying spree before this officially starts.

Nope, I think that's fine!

Dre (drez80) | 6 comments ❶Ĵʴ❶ wrote: "Is there any benefit to creating a new wishlist on elfster? I just linked to my GR wishlist so I only have one place to update if I go on another book buying spree before this officially starts."

I created a separate wishlist because I usually participate in multiple secret santa exchanges, and a good GR friend and I always exchange books for Xmas as well. With separate wishlists, I don't have to worry about folks buying the same book.

message 31: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Fleury Ok u can feel free to tell me if I'm wrong but once we get our person to swap with and they have our e mail they can look at our wishlist on amazon? Now we also need to make a wishlist on elfing right? Sorry i have never done one of these before

Thanks for the info Dre. I guess I'm safe for the moment since this is the only secret santa that I'm doing. =D

Heather K (dentist in my spare time) (dentistinmysparetime) | 2075 comments Mod
I think so, Andrea!?

~ Lei ~ Reading Is An Adventure ~ (leilanilives2read) | 345 comments Dre wrote: "With separate wishlists, I don't have to worry about folks buying the same book. ..."

You can mark if you bought someone's w/l book on their wishlist (they can't see that) and it'll mark it as bought to anyone else who looks at their list.

I have an elfster wishlist and also a goodreads wishlist, which is longer.

message 38: by Juli (new)

Juli (mrsmarit) | 64 comments I post mine on elfster as there are some items on my GR wishlist that are not M/M and there are some books that I want more than others. I think you can specify in your elfster profile where you want the person to look.

message 39: by Midniteillusion (new)

Midniteillusion | 89 comments I put my top request in Elfster then people can also refer back to my TBR list here if they need other ideas.

I do one on Elfster of the books that I really want, and I also give a link to my goodreads page.

Do you place the link to you GR page in elfster? Or somewhere here? If elfster, where do you do that?

Heather K (dentist in my spare time) (dentistinmysparetime) | 2075 comments Mod
I put in in Elster! I'm not sure where. I think it is above my wish list.

message 46: by Dawn (new)

Dawn I only have a link to my GR wish list shelf as my wishlist on elfster. When I added my wish list, I chose the link tab and pasted my shelf address there. I find it easier to just add things onto my GR shelf rather than maintaining a different itemized list on elfster.

message 47: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (bvicki) | 74 comments I did the same. When it says view wish list, it goes right to GR.
