I know I was planning on having the character based on the song to have a single mother who was basically dependent on drugs so, if we want to add one parent walking out, the father who could have been the one with the job getting her money for her drugs walked out(maybe due to the constant fights about her using the money for drugs, her being on drugs in general kinda thing?) she had no more income and three kids so she began selling her kids off for certain amounts of time in exchange for drugs and so they'd have been raped, beaten etc and then they'd always be returned home and it would repeat..??
Maybe one time the mother sells herself out, get's preggo and that's how they get their other sibling if we're doing that.
I could also see when she's like stable on the drugs no going through withdrawals or anything she's a pretty decent mother, overprotective and caring but as soon as she drops low on them or missed an intake she's crazy, violent etc..?? How does that sound...?

I like. Maybe she offers Val and Val says she wished her mum would die and tries to find the dad, but the person was expecting a cunt so she has to and that's why?

That sounds good. Maybe she had been a little bipolar to begin with but takes meds for it while not on drugs? Or she gets off of drugs in the mania phase a lot?

Val drinks a lot, and I think she's convinced herself she does it for fun/for the hell of it. I have had that with old boring versions of her character. I think she just gets in a lot of trouble with the law? I don't think Val self-harms or is suicidal. Poor all of them. I also think Val sort of feels the need to fail!mother the younger ones? Like she feels the need to get money for them and make sure they're alive and such, but maybe she doesn't really do anything about their habits and kind of tells them to do whatever the hell they feel like?
