Daniel Clark Well, I didn't know this book was set in Utah, or that the main characters are Mormon. (I'm a Mormon from Utah myself). I think it's a good literary device to represent the hardcore fanatical side of religion to make for a good plot, but I hope nobody judges the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by the strange behaviors in books like this. It always makes me cringe to read stuff like this, because the whole church can be judged by extremism that doesn't represent a "normal" Mormon family today. If you have any questions about Mormons you can ask me, BTW although I'm sure I have my bias as well :)

Daniel Clark Lots of adventure and romance here. I'm not sure what was missing in this book for me. It had adventure, intrigue, backstories that get revealed piece by piece, personal growth, everything was there. But it was a little hokey, none of it was "funny," and I felt like the romance plots weren't my style. I think that intangible dislike comes from the same place as my dislike for country music.
