Chase, Silver Lining Playbook is haunting me as well. By chance do you want to buddy up and attempt this sucker?
*grabs furniture in an attempt to keep from getting sucked into another interesting, unscheduled buddy read when I have so many scheduled-but-unfinished books already*
Great idea, though!

Of those you've listed I've only read The Vor Game and Rebecca, but both were excellent. If that helps with the narrowing.

Both of those are award winners, too - so maybe I'll kill two birds with one stone.

OK, now I am committed. I know it's 7 titles, but I need to do this.
Books I meant to read already:
(I am new to the group, so for now am jumping in with a mini-challenge.)
1. The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency (Starting from the beginning, after setting the book aside three years ago.)
2. Winter Solstice (Given the title, I felt it should be read during chilly weather.)
3. Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem, and Other Things That Happened (Been meaning to read this one for two years now.)
4. Jane and the Twelve Days of Christmas (Meant to read this one last year. Yikes!)
5. Tess of the D'Urbervilles (Maybe?)

1. A Feast for Crows
2. Wolf Hall - DONE!!
3. Olive Kitteridge
4. A Girl of the Limberlost
5. The Invention of Wings

I do understand what you mean by the book being a slog. Also, I must confess that I couldn't get through the book without buying the audiobook too, and I very rarely do that. At least the audiobook helped me differentiate between all the different Thomases and all of the usage of "he". Also, the narrator of the audiobook was awesome. The BBC/PBS miniseries was also helpful in understanding the book, although I watched it after I had already read the book.
One a positive note, if you can get through the writing, the story is certainly worthwhile. Also, the second book in the series is a much easier read, as the author stopped her prolific use of pronouns. :)

Two down! Three to go!
Nicholas Nickleby is next, and the reason I can't take on any of the Dickens Christmas reads going on all over GR.

I almost feel like any Dickens fits at Christmas time. Probably because that's when the TV adaptations always played when I was growing up!
Well, I managed 4 out of the 5. I'm at 64% on the last one. But at least this challenge made me start it!
I'm also at 4 of 5, which I'm quite pleased about. I finished two during the Readathon. :)
The Martian will be something I finish in 2016.

Nice. I've been visiting my family for the last couple weeks, so reading time has been very limited!
I hear ya! The holidays are a difficult tomorrow to try to finish up anything, let alone find some quiet time for reading.
I'm moving the 2015 Haunted Challenge to the Mini-Challenge Archive. Please feel free to update there as you have the opportunity. Although the year is over, members may need time to finish recording their data. And of course we want to celebrate every completed challenge!
Look for this challenge again in October 2016!
