Again, I'm looking to knock over some of the books I have in my bookshelves. I've set my target on 12 read over the course of the year.

This year, along with reading prize-winners, I want to focus a bit more on Nobel Prize winners. So the challenge will be to read at least 8 non-Nobel prize-winners and at least 6 Nobel prize-winners - to total 14 prize-winners.

Another year where I try to insert short stories along with my novels/novellas. Again, I'm aiming to read as many short-stories as I do novels/novellas.

I'm adding my non-challenge challenge again this year. This is a list of authors that I hope to cover across the year. Plans never survive first contact with the enemy (time) and I don't expect there to be an exception this year, but it's always interesting to me to see how my planning compares to reality by the end of the year.

My suggestions for a Nobel winner would be: Kenzaburo Oe, Mo Yan and Halldor Laxness

damn it!"
You were all over my reply though. :)
I do better with reading lists. It seems when I don't have a list lined up I sit around wondering what should I read, while when I have a list I can avoid the whole option paralysis black hole.

I predict that I will be well short by the end of the year, but still better off than I was at the start of the year. ;)

Well - it wasn't that bad really. Two challenges I flunked out on was my short story challenge. I couldn't have done worse, not reading a single short story all year. :)
My page count challenge was a bit of a travesty as well with me not quite getting to 2/3 complete.
However, I did get the rest of my challenges. I read 6 books from Nobel Prize for Literature winners and a total of 14 prize winning books altogether. I read 12 of my physical books, reducing the unread content of my bookshelves by a fraction. I also managed to read 6 novels from Australian authors.
The main victory of the year was that I read a bunch of fantastic books and broadened by horizons a little more. Each year is a success of some kind even if not the kind I set out in these challenges at the start of the year.
Anyway - I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season and will have a great new year filled with books, authors and great reading!

The above says it all for me regarding these challenges, and is why I do them. Well done on your achievements!
