Patricia | 2164 comments Bookmarked for Murder (Booktown Mystery #2)
by Lorna Barrett

I liked this even better than the previous book I read in this series. You get to know more of the town citizens.

Patricia | 2164 comments Daring Greatly by Brene Brown

I love Brene Brown's TED talk about this topic. She is an engaging speaker who is able to communicate research in a way that motivates you to want to know more. I love listening to her. Perhaps my expectations for the book was unrealistic as my motivation for reading the book was to learn more to be able to make steps to become more courageous and as the title states, to transform the way I live.

How to Make People Like You in 90 Seconds or Less
by Nicholas Boothman
I enjoyed this book although many of the concepts are similar to what has been said before. I liked the way the author discussed them and the examples that he used to illustrate his point. I feel that it is interesting that he is a photographer and he talked about how he needed to create with his subjects in a quick way including some that English was not their native language.

A rainy day great for reading...or napping and reading. ;)

Patricia | 2164 comments The Knockoff
by Lucy Sykes, Jo Piazza (Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Author)

I loved this book! As I neared the end of the book I started searching for more by the author. I loved the humor, the characters and the premise of the story.

I would recommend this.

Patricia | 2164 comments After You (Me Before You #2)
by Jojo Moyes
I was waiting for this! There are times that you finish a book and you want to know what happened to the characters. I am so glad the author wrote this sequel. Life is not always a straight line, grief expresses itself in different ways.

Patricia | 2164 comments Chestnut Street
by Maeve Binchy

Another one of Maeve Binchy's great book in which we come to know the people on Chestnut Street. This is a series of stories with some interconnections but each story is complete in themselves. My favorites were * By the time we get to Clifton, Bucket Maquire, The Builders and Taxi Men are Invisible. MY FAVORITE HOWEVER was The Cure for Sleeplessness.

I'm going to miss Maeve Binchy's books. I was so sad when she died.

Patricia | 2164 comments I never realized how many of the books I read have the same beginning first letter!!!

message 12: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 2164 comments The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving
by Jonathan Evison

This is a book that makes you think and appreciate what you have. The characters all have something that could have been written as significant problems but instead, we see them living albeit sometimes on the edge. It is a journey not just cross country but also a journey of understanding.

Patricia | 2164 comments Give and Take: A Revolutionary Approach to Success
by Adam M. Grant (Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Author)

This is a very interesting book that describes the givers, takers and matchers. There is historical information about notable figures that are really interesting as the stories often precede the revelation of who the person is.

message 14: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 2164 comments Lean Mean Thirteen (Stephanie Plum #13)
by Janet Evanovich

I like the wild stories of Janet Evanovich. Her stories are filled with great characters, implausible situations, and romance. If you want to read about exploding behaviors, monogrammed underwear, and a murder mystery this is a great book to read.,

Patricia | 2164 comments 25The Fire (The Eight #2)
by Katherine Neville
I was determined to make it through this book thinking it would come together, unfortunately, I did not enjoy it. The switching from current day to earlier times, the use of famous people as characters in the history of the story just made it more confusing. Sorry it may have been just me.

I only did it BECAUSE I needed an F. Did not like it.

Patricia | 2164 comments 26. Why Not Me?

I find reading good self-help books is like getting a boost to your goals. This one was written with humor and no apologizes and had some very good points

Patricia | 2164 comments If You Were Here
by Jen Lancaster

This was a fun book about some really improbable events with the main backdrop the renovation of a home with terrible consequences.

Patricia | 2164 comments Murder House

James Patterson's books are always a great read!

Patricia | 2164 comments Congratulations, By the Way: Some Thoughts on Kindness
by George Saunders

Very short book but thought provoking! Be kind!

message 24: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 2164 comments Summer Breeze By Nancy Thayer

This is a light read with a once upon a time beginning with the introduction of MANY characters and ending with a happily ever after. I did look up the setting because it sounded fabulous. There are times you just need a story like this.

Patricia | 2164 comments The Rainbow Comes and Goes: A Mother and Son On Life, Love, and Loss
by Anderson Cooper, Gloria Vanderbilt
I enjoyed this book. Gloria Vanderbilt is very eloquent in her prose telling of the joys, heartache, and adventures of her life. Living in Rhode Island and growing up in New York City I was able to picture some of the settings that she spoke of which made the book very real to me. The conversation of mother and son was very poignant.

Patricia | 2164 comments X (Kinsey Millhone #24)
by Sue Grafton
Sue Grafton is a great author as she weaves several tales into one. As I began to write this review I realized that anything I would save might give the reader information that it is better to find out yourself. This was a great read.

Patricia | 2164 comments Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald
by Therese Anne Fowler

I must admit that I picked this book to read as I was part of a challenge to read the alphabet. I was very happily engaged in reading the story and then went on to do more research into Zelda Fitzgerald spurred on by curiosity sparked by Therese Anne Fowler.

Patricia | 2164 comments J is for Judgment (Kinsey Millhone #10)
by Sue Grafton

This has a great premise someone who has robbed so many people in an investment scheme and thought dead is actually alive. There were parts that I didn't get why the characters did what they did. Why were the confessions so easily gotten? Why wouldn't you call the police ......more than one time I thought this?

Patricia | 2164 comments Only two books to make it through the alphabet! I am not sure I will make it.

message 31: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 2164 comments The The Obituary Writer
by Ann Hood

This was a fascinating story about two parallel stories that end up intersecting. It is a story about love, grief, and family. One part of the story takes place during the Kennedy presidential campaign and inauguration and it serves as a backdrop to the story.

I have one more to go!!!
