Michael Flanagan (loboz) 101. Agent to the Stars by John Scalzi by John Scalzi John Scalzi
Finish date: 24th November
Rating: B
Review: John Scalzi can do wrong and once again shows why he is one of the best Sci-Fi writers around. Whilst this is not my favourite of his books it is still a top class read.

So if you are a slimy alien that communicates by smells, real bad smells how do you go about making friends with the people of earth? Easy employ the services of one of Hollywood's top agents to the stars the king of pin. This is in a nutshell is the premise of the book. Add to this Scalzi's hallmark humour you have the makings of another top notch book.

Michael Flanagan (loboz) December

102. Fathomless by Greig Beck by Greig Beck Anne M. Pillsworth
Finish date: 1st December
Genre: Action
Rating: B-
Review: Fathomless is a gold ole fashion adventure read with monsters from the past trying to gobble everyone up. Grieg back has managed to meld together a whole heap of sub genres to deliver a Hollywood blockbuster worthy story. The story, characters and surprisingly the science are all good and mix well with the fast pace action to keep the reader on the edge.

Donna (drspoon) Congrats on a great year of reading, Michael. I noticed that you forgot to list the genre from book #99 on.

Michael Flanagan (loboz) 103. Dirty Old London The Victorian Fight Against Filth by Lee Jackson by Lee Jackson (no photo).
Finish date: 5th December
Genre: History
Rating: C
Review: Dirty Old London delivers exactly what the title promises dirt, dirt and more dirt. Further to this it shows Victorian London's battle against the filth that was the hallmark of its success.

I found parts of this book totally fascinating the level of recycling that used to go on was truly remarkable. Equally as remarkable for other reasons was the complete squalor the average Victorian lived in. The battle to clean the city and the politics involved was bureaucracy at its finest.

Lee Jackson delivers a well researched piece of history. The writing is well paced and holds the readers interest well. The chapters are well set out and introduce their own little piece of dirt. A good solid read that whilst not a standout is entertaining.

Michael Flanagan (loboz) 104: One of Them (Year of the Zombie Book 11) by Matt Shaw by Matt Shaw Matt Shaw
Finish date: 5th December
Genre: Zombies
Rating: C
Review: The penultimate offering in Infected Books year of the Zombie brings author Matt Shaw to the crease. This books takes a bit off a different path and the Zombie apocalypse is merely a background setting for this tale. Not a bade short read but far from one of my favourites so far in this awesome series.

Michael Flanagan (loboz) 106. End of Watch (Bill Hodges Trilogy, #3) by Stephen King by Stephen King Stephen King
Finish date: 7th December
Genre: Thriller
Rating: A
Review: End of Watch is the end of Stephen Kings Bill Hodges Trilogy. For me this book highlights all I like in a King novel. A great mix of suspense, thrills and a touch of the Supernatural all combine to deliver this powerhouse of a read. True their is not much horror in this mix but this just goes to show the versatile of this master author.
