I've never read any James Patterson books, but have seen the morgan freeman movies. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to start? Is it necessary to read the series in order?

I would recommend starting with Along Came A Spider and going in order because there is a story line that continues throughout the series. You'll have a better understanding of whats happening with the recurring characters.

Fully agree with Erin Marie, it is better to start with Along came a spider. I absolutely love the James Patterson books, especially the ones with Alex Cross.

start with spider, quit after 3 or 4 ... the books get terrible
