Thanks, Karin, for picking so quickly!

Looks like we'll be having a humourous month in May!

What tickles your fancy?

I must confess that I don't read very many humourous books as I only found less than half of the ones I read are actually funny in a LOL way...

I did enjoy Me Talk Pretty One Day and have been meaning to give Sedaris' other works ago, so I might try one of his...

Coralie | 1658 comments I must admit that I have a disproportionate number of one-star reads on this shelf, but I finally found two books on my TBR shelf (from the first 20 pages).
The Atrocity Archives
The Suicide Shop

I think I will go with Something Rotten and Notorious Nineteen

Marina (sonnenbarke) | 1508 comments Oh, that's a great shelf! I need some humor in my life :-)

Some books I have on my TBR are:

The Light Fantastic
Three Men in a Boat
Fool
Candide

Karin PS I chose humour and not humor; of course they are the same word, but I was hoping it would lead to reading more Australian, British, Canadian, Kiwi (New Zealandish???) and South African humourous books where there is a u, but of course, I don't know the rules here, plus no doubt have labelled American books under humour as well, since that's how I spell it. At any rate, it will lead to books those of us from those countries found humour in :) (I do now live in the States, but have to work hard to spell American so only do that if it's going to be important; it's enough that I have a thick American accent when I speak ;) ).

At any rate, I hope we have a lot of fun with this :) !!! And I hope you all enjoy the avi I chose...

LynnB | 1760 comments I'm going to start with
The Fourth Bear by Jasper Fforde.
It's the only adult book of his I haven't read yet. He is such a funny, amazing, inventive author. I've really enjoyed this Nursery Rhyme series but wish he had done more than 2 books in it. I love the Thursday Next series, too, and am hoping he will write another book in it.

I have to agree with Tien that most of the humour/humor books that I read are really not that funny, although some of them are faves for their quirkiness. That said, I think it is time for me to finally read the next Thursday Next book by Jasper Fforde, which for me is The Well of Lost Plots. I loved the first two books in this series and agree with LynnB, he is such an imaginative and inventive writer.

If I have time (right, sure) I will move on to Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal which has been on my list for years.

Karin I'll be starting May off with Henrietta's War: News from the Home Front 1939-1942 by Joyce Dennys and hope I do find it funny enough to laugh. It is tagged shelved humour.

Dogsandbooksanddogsandbooks Did You Ever Have a Family Going to have to start with this one.
Having a problem with getting my Billy Crystal audiobook going. Hope to add that before this theme is done. I prefer audio when doing humour or humor or just LOL.

I didn't realize that was on the Humour shelf. I will have to read that one for a review, so I will add it to my list!

I've been wanting to read Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari, so this will be my chance to do that.

Lyn, I don't know where I saw this book on the list, but it's not funny. Sad. Going audio with this one as it is short and I can get it done while still reading my other books for the month. I don't care for the author's reading of it - monotone - but the story is good. I wouldn't recommend the audio for that reason.
