M (buffetoflies) | 125 comments I am interesting in reading suggestions on books that are about fire events or recovering after a fire. For example I have read 'after the fire' by Robin Gaby Fisher and I have 'afterwards' by Rosamund Lupton on my to read list. I have read 'callie of the white sand' about a girl that was the sole survivor of a house fire when she was real young, then I have read 'the burn journals' about a teen boy who set himself on fire.

I am interested in all suggestions have to do with fire, basically. Can be fiction or non fiction.

Are you looking for both fiction and nonfiction? Does the fire have to be the central event of the story, or can it be a side thing?

M (buffetoflies) | 125 comments I would rather it be more central

Firegirl is on my TBR list.

M (buffetoflies) | 125 comments I've added Burned to my list. I read Firegirl a few years ago. It would have been nice to have both Tom's and Jessicas perceptions of that time rather than just Toms. Perfect fit for what I'm looking for though.

Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes--the fire event in this book happened to the girl named in the title. Although the pov is that of the male who is "staying fat" for her. I will warn you--there is some serious abuse covered in this book, even though it is YA.

Lynn Abbey's Emma Merrigan series (UF series, if this matters) deals with a curse that is cast during a fire--and that keeps coming back to haunt the descendants of the first person to acquire the curse. Unfortunately, I don't remember WHICH one of the 4 books it is, but I'll throw this series into the hat for you. Out of Time is the first book. Basically the MC (and her family) are able to time travel to find the reason for "curses" and put an end to them.

J Hicks (jasonhicks23) | 11 comments Due to the other types of books being listed here you might not go for it but a series of unfortunate events by Lemony Snicket are a rewarding read, the first few books are formulaic but once you get to the later ones you want to keep reading and fires become very prominent in the plot after the initial one in book 1 at the end of book 8.

Anne (absconderanne) | 37 comments Uprising by Madelyn Peterson Haddix centers on a fire, but the fire doesn't happen until the end. However, the story is narrated a few years after the fire. It's a YA historical fiction.
