Emerge the Victor full rulesHere's what it boils down to:
1. We have a hero.
2.
3. We need to get that weapon as strong as we can.
4. Our hero needs experience.
So, here's what we do for the weapon: We read series books. Any book (whole numbers only, no .5s) in any series. To make our weapon stronger by 1 we read a #1 in series. Next, to make it stronger by 2 we read another #1, and a #2. To make it stronger by 3 we read another #1, another #2, and a #3. And we just keep going, as high as we can! There does not appear to be a limit to how strong the weapon can get.
To get our hero more experience, we go on quests and fight monsters. (Think of the labors, quests will be similar). We have 5 cards. They will be a random mix of monsters and quests. When we finish one we get a new one. If we get one we just can't do, we discard it. New cards are drawn for us every day at 11:00 am London time, if we have less than 5 cards.
So, weapon strength & quests involve reading books. The monster cards are fought virtually. There is some magic involving the strength of our weapon and the experience level (health) of our hero. I, for one, am happy to let Natalie (or anyone else with experience at this) tell us whether we can beat a particular monster or not. And I think that is something that will be clearer once we have seen a few monsters.
So, in addition to reading series books and books for specific tasks in the quest, any book we read can be sold for gold at the following rate:
1 - 400 pages = 1 gold
401+ pages = 2 gold
Gold can be used in the Jack & Jill store to buy:
� Minor Heal Potion - 2 Gold
Heals 5 health
� Heal Potion - 3 Gold
Heals 10 health
� Cure Poison - 2 Gold
Cures poison
� Damage Potion - 2 Gold
Increases weapon attack by 5 Attack for one round
� Poison Potion - 5 Gold
Damages opponent 3 damage every round until healed or opponent is knocked out
Potions can also be dropped by monsters/quests randomly when we finish a card. There also exists (not available in the store):
� Greater Heal Potion - Heals 15 Health
� Greater Damage Potion - Doubles weapon attack for one round
� Greater Poison Potion - Damages opponent 6 damage every round until healed or opponent is knocked out
� Shield Potion - Halves damage taken by the next attack
Stand by for info on the tournaments!
The tournaments are the part I'm a little fuzzy on. Luckily, there will be no tournaments for the first week! Then, for the last three weeks, we will get a new opponent each week (3 opponents total). The tournaments have multiple rounds, each lasting 16 hours. So we would have 16 hours to attack our opponent once, and then they have 16 hours to attack us. We can use as many potions as we want, but can only use the weapon once each round.
� Starting the second week each team will be assigned a tournament partner.
� Each round lasts 16 hours, then the round transfers to the partner.
� The team with a less experienced hero starts.
� During a round a hero may use an unlimited amount of potions and attack once with their weapon (unless another rule overrides it)
� If a hero is knocked out (0 HP) the opponent receives 30 Points.
� If a hero is knocked out (0 HP) they may heal their next turn using potions or by leveling.
Strategy comes into play here because we might want to keep an eye on them and strike when they fight a monster and have low health!

Hello!!!!It's so funny, when I was scrolling through the team names yesterday, I thought Terror Birds was the coolest sounding name;-)!
I told my husband about our team and that the terror bird looked terrifying and he said that was fitting for me;) That was amidst lots of eye rolling on his part because, of course, he just doesn't get all my enthusiasm for these challenges!
I'll be sending friend requests to everyone shortly....hope that's okay? Just ignore it if not, LOL!

I noticed. :-) I love historical fiction as well. I haven't read a lot of it but even in my bodice ripper reading I prefer historical.

Actually, he doesn't like reading at all. He's dyslexic, which makes it difficult for him. Out of our 3 kids, two love to read and one thinks it's just okay.

I try to get my daughters interested in joining ŷ (they're 14 and love to read), but so far no luck.

Oh Lawd....this team is gonna be trouble! LOL! Terror Birds...this is my perfect team!! Growing up, my grandma always called me Holy Terror (aka Holy Tara!)...and my last name sounds like 'beak' so i got called Bird Beak a lot!
