Thus Spoke Zarathustra is not general fiction, but instead a literary classic. One of the many rite of passage books every student must read. I think we as readers need to examine the parables and zany parodies from a mature seat as well to affix a clearer understanding of the author. It may lead to a newer philosophical set of ideals that include both reason and self in a more human secular value assessing theory.
