Emma (First of all I'm only in book 7 but thought I'd post this here so any and every character can be mentioned - I dont care about spoilers)

I am not one to go out of my way to look for actors who would best be suited for these characters, but I just had a random thought that made sense after I thought about it.

Emma Watson for Nynaeve. Think about it. If she dyed her hair darker and stuck it in a long braid, I could easily see her as the bad tempered, angry ex-Wisdom. All of the fan casting Ive seen for Nynaeve so far has made me want to cry and prey it will not be so (sorry but ya know).

Thoughts? Does anyone have anyone else for other characters? I actually hate fan casting because 98% of the time I turn my head in disgust, but there are some who come up with good ones :)

Daniel Clouser I think Emma Watson would make a better Egwene, myself. Egwene gets plenty fiery at times, but she isn't constantly pissed off at everyone the way Nynaeve is. Also, things about Egwene that annoyed some readers as the series progressed would probably come off better if they were played with the kind of dignity I believe Emma Watson would be able to ably convey.

I saw someone suggest Kristen Bell for Nynaeve, and I have to say that with her hair dyed dark, I think that she could definitely pull it off. The thing about Nynaeve is that, even though she spends almost all of her time being angry at everyone, when she has rare moments of vulnerability or happiness, they need to be very--perhaps shockingly--genuine. Kristen Bell strikes me as someone who can play angry very convincingly but would also be able to do open happiness, distress, embarrassment, etc.

Now, I don't know if she can even act, but Skin, the lead singer of Skunk Anansi, would be awesome for Semirhage:

I also want Oona Chaplin to play Faile. I think she looks enough like the description (though Saldeans should probably be a bit more Asian-looking, by and large) and could probably play the character in such a way that she comes off as a little more likeable than she does in the books.

Mostly, I would just want unknowns for the parts, though. I'd want them to really focus on get people who looked right for the parts (and could perform them well, obviously), and I think it's hard for me to imagine known actors playing these characters right, in most cases.

Daniel Clouser So, it's been almost a year, and I have to say that I've changed my mind about Emma Watson as Nynaeve. Nynaeve can be a very divisive character, and Emma Watson is someone who can pull off depicting someone who acts the way Nynaeve does and still make her sympathetic.

I still want Oona Chaplin for Faile, though. And Skin for Semirhage.

Thats actually really funny you mention Oona Chaplin! I have always imagined Egwene to look like her if she was 16. She's got that darker skin tone and hair and eye colour that Egwene is described with, but I feel shes too old for anyone, except maybe an Aes Sedai.
