The 1 good thing about this challenge is that you're reading completely off your own tbr. Give it a go, you could at least complete #1 :)"

D.G., I think for me, #4 will be the most fun. Of course, #3 is one book only, no matter how many books are on your TBR.

message 52: by Marina (new)

Marina (sonnenbarke) | 1508 comments D.G., do try! I'm pretty sure I won't be able to complete this challenge, seen as the books I'll need to read are mostly chunksters, but it'll be fun to try and trim my TBR anyway! Do join us :-)

I didn't realise it earlier, but I have read books by Juliet Marillier. Years ago I have read the first 3 books of the Sevenwater series. I liked that series and can still remember a lot of it even though it was a long time ago that I've read it. You are right, she is a good writer. I should check if the library has got more of her books.

The other serie you mentioned sounds good too!

lol Tien, you are right we are not supposed to find books here to add to our tbr. Yet I have added a few lol Thanks!

I know what you mean, CassieV! I think 2 or 3 groups are really the max I could keep up with and badly at that too.

I do hope you give this a try... then we can all point to those empty spaces on our shelves and tell people that we need MORE books!

Who am I kidding... first I need to clear the books off the floor and that's not looking likely lol

Eeep! Good luck, Cassie! Looks like some tough ones (Dumas) and some fun ones (HP - I think HP were fun books & fairly easy to read)... Just remember, you can still change your books if you are reading off your tbr so you don't necessarily have to stick to this list.

That's a reminder for everyone too... :)

So - confession of the day......I was looking at my library holds on line to see when I needed to make a trip to pick up books, and I saw three books that need to be picked up by tomorrow. Christina (cmb1987) | 161 comments For this I am focusing on one of my TBR Shelves.
1. How many?!?! - 94 Currently on Selected Shelf
Look at the total number of your TBR, take the last digit and read that many books off your TBR. If you have a "0", read 10 books.
Try to read what's already on your TBR prior to starting this challenge. You may concentrate on a certain TBR shelf if you have a number of TBR shelves.
1. I Am Malala: The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban 11/26/16
2. Breakfast at Tiffany's 12/3/6
3. Lord of the Vampires
4. Breakable
I Am Malala The Story of the Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote

2. Popularity
Sort your TBR by "number of ratings" and read:
a. Books with the highest number of ratings
b. Books with the least number of ratings
Try to read the same number of books (a+b) as you did for (1) above, if not more.
1. (Lowest) Fatal Fixer-Upper
2. (2nd Lowest) Exodus 12/14/16
3. (Highest) Angels & Demons
4. (2nd Highest) Gone Girl
Exodus (Exodus, #1) by Julie Bertagna

3. Monstrosity
Read 1 (one) of the 5 thickest books on your TBR.
Yes, the biggest book and just the One. If the thickest is 1,000+ pages but the 5th thickest is only 300+ pages, DO choose the book closest to 1,000+ pages
1. The Witching Hour 12/21/16
The Witching Hour (Lives of the Mayfair Witches, #1) by Anne Rice

4. Catch Up
Read that last book in the series!
Or at least, catch up to the latest instalment.
You must have read at least the first book before October 2016. Again, try to read the same number of book you read for (1), if not more.
1. Fifty Shades Freed 12/12/16
2. The Forever Song 11/25/16
3. Forever
4. Balthazar
Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades, #3) by E.L. James The Forever Song (Blood of Eden, #3) by Julie Kagawa

I started The Woman in White for the "How many" selection a couple of days ago. I'm enjoying it so far, even though I haven't had much time to read these past few days.

I don't know why it is that most of the books I've chosen for this challenge are so long...

I think I most enjoy seeing what monstrosities people have on their shelves!

@Karen: good luck with A Suitable Boy -it wasn't a bad read but gosh so slow. I'm not sure if I'd be able to finish it if it wasn't a buddy read!

@Nicki: you've got some sizeable books too! I really enjoyed The Count of Monte Cristo and Pillars of the Earth. I don't think I can tackle both in 3 months though but you can! ;p

Done that! I'll look at my pile where I've put books to be read next and thought, why is that book there? lol
