John Seymour Brideshead Revisited and Candide were tied for the Popular Vote, so into the Randomizer and our Popular Vote Winner is Candide, by Voltaire. That left Brideshead Revisited, by Evelyn Waugh as our Weighted Vote Winner. The remaining 28 books that received votes were tumbled into the Randomizer and our Random Selection is The Age of Innocence, by Edith Wharton.

To Recap:

Popular Vote Winner - Candide, by Voltaire

Weighted Vote Winner - Brideshead Revisited, by Evelyn Waugh

Random Selection - The Age of Innocence, by Edith Wharton

What are your plans for November, will you be reading one of our November BOTMs? Perhaps the ultimate dysfunctional family, the Karamazovs? Our November Calendar Read? Or perhaps November is your month to get Stoned?

message 2: by John (new)

John Seymour Oh yes, Dianne, Cafémom and MaryAnn share credit for The Age of Innocence

message 3: by Dianne (new)

Dianne | 225 comments This is great! I haven't had much luck in the most recent polls but I like all of these so will be tough to decide.

message 4: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tstan) | 559 comments I've read all of these, and they're all really good! I'll try to get more of my TBR knocked off, and get the monthly read in.

Diane Zwang | 1846 comments Mod
I am going to read the two I voted for; Age of Innocence and Candide. And of course the monthly challenge selection.

message 6: by John (new)

John Seymour I have all three of these on my shelf, so . . .

I will definitely read Brideshead Revisited, since it is also our BOTM at the Catholic Book Club for November. I may also try to squeeze in Candide since it is short. Age of Innocence will have to join. The growing pile of 2016 BOTMs that I own but haven't gotten to yet.

I, of course, will try to read the October Calendar Read. I have finished the Annual Read, and still hope to finish the Brothers Karamazov this month, so with any luck I will be able to whittle down the back log of BOTMs.

message 7: by Lynn (new)

Lynn L | 152 comments I have Brideshead Revisited on cd waiting for me at the library.

I have Age of Innocence yet to read. I have read the other two but would not mind reading them again with everyone. But will have to see. I will be reading the Calendar selection I think. And continuing on with the Brothers K

I've read all three so I will catch up on past botms.

*sigh* I don't think I had any of my picks chosen since April... My TBR shelf is now bulging with recent purchases (more than 70 List books). I have read Candide and Brideshead Revisited, which leaves only The Age of Innocence to be read. I might be able to add it to my BOTM catch-up effort which is still ongoing. Otherwise, I will go through the November Calendar selection.

message 11: by Diane (last edited Oct 21, 2016 06:35PM) (new)

Diane | 2044 comments Age of Innocence is one of my all-time favorites, but I probably won't re-read it this time. I may re-read Candide, since it is short, and another of my favorites. I will definitely read Brideshead since I haven't read it yet. I still need to finish re-reading Anna.

message 12: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Carter | 35 comments I read Candide in 6/14, Brideshead Revisited in 8/12 and The Age of Inncocence in 8/04. All really good reads. I will be using the time to read more 1001 list books.

MaryAnn (EmilyD1037) I am going to try for all three.

I want to catch-up a few BOTM's.
from this year, as well. A lot of the
books this year are ones I wanted
to read, and don't want to wait
another 3 years.

message 14: by Connie (new)

Connie D | 91 comments Sorry, just not in the mood for those (I've read Candide and Age of Innocence already).

I'm just starting Colour, and I just got Rabbit Run from the library too, so it looks like I'll be doing October in November.

message 15: by Sushicat (new)

Sushicat | 292 comments Definitely don't want to re-read Candide. And feel no urge towards the other two. But there is quite a collection of earlier BOTMs on the shelf...

message 16: by Paula (new)

Paula S (paula_s) | 220 comments I'm adding all three to my list. I watched half of the Brideshead revisited tv-series, so I'm looking forward to finding out the ending.

message 17: by Judith (new)

Judith (jloucks) | 90 comments Read and enjoyed all three.

I really need to go back and look at the list of BOTM I missed before joining the group and pick something there. Is there a list like that available here on goodreads?

message 18: by Kristel (new)

Kristel (kristelh) | 5050 comments Mod
Judith, there is a list probably in the general tab here at Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ.

John Seymour Kristel wrote: "Judith, there is a list probably in the general tab here at Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ."

I think Judith is looking for a list of past BOTMs for the Shelfari 1001 group.

Judith, I don't think that exists yet. I think I have info on a lot of them and on my to do list for someday is to pull the list together. If I do, it will show up here: /topic/show/...

I see. Yes, I don't think I have an official list. I think we used to have threads back when we were elsewhere but that didn't come over when we left elsewhere. Too bad. That was fun information. Sometimes i know when I go through the list but now with other challenges etc. I don't.

Maybe the BOTM should be shelved by year they were books when they go on the group shelf. Is that possible?

I would think so, but you would have to know that first. And we will have that information going forward.
