Marina (sonnenbarke) | 1508 comments Susan, I've always thought it was Pacific time, since ŷ is based in San Francisco if I'm not mistaken. However, I've seen you come from the US yourself, so this cannot be the case.

ooh, it's not Aussie time...
I announced the challenge on Monday morning (14th) but GR is showing Nov 13, 1:57pm so definitely not my time.

yes, Pacific time makes sense... actually. This is around the time I announced the challenge few days ago and the difference in time with Pacific time is about right.

Hi Coralie,

I enjoyed many of the books on your list but many of them are so long that I will limit myself to one long book and two shorter ones:

Middlemarch
The Castlemaine Murders
The Help

Hi Coralie, there you go:

The Complete Persepolis - I loved this graphic novel!
Last Words from Montmartre - I have it on my wishlist and am intrigued to know what you'll think of it, if you decide to go for this one
At the Mountains of Madness - I read it as a teen and loved it, I have to go back to it one of these days

message 67: by Coralie (new)

Coralie | 1658 comments Thank you Marina. Now I just need to decide which of them to read and I'll be all set for the start of December.

Paola, here are your choices:

E l'eco rispose
Cronomacchina accidentale
Perdido Street Station

The first two I really enjoyed and gave 4*. The last one is by an author I like. Hope you find one that you want to read in that list.

Thanks Bea...none of them is within the range 280-420 necessary to claim the property though :(
Or can I read more than 420 pages?

message 74: by Paola (new)

Paola (yliharma) | 470 comments Probably I can't...the rule is "Book MUST have 280-420 pages".
Ok...for next time: when I ask for books can I ask for books that are within the range of pages required for claiming a property?

Oh, sorry, Paola. I did not realize you were looking to buy the property and so did not look at page numbers.

Tien will need to rule on this, but I am willing to change one of my choices for you, if she allows, since the game has not yet begun.

Yeah, I thought I remembered that also, Dee. Just did not want to look...and since this is a new game...?

message 79: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2689 comments Iirc the page limit was more because of the one week time frame to read for purchase - so books weren't too short or too long

message 80: by Lisette (last edited Nov 25, 2016 09:41AM) (new)

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments Neither of the books I got are withing the page numbers to buy either. I would not worry about it. There is always another round.

I think last round we were not even allowed to request books within the page limit to buy a property. So you just have to be lucky. We dont have to look at this when choosing books for someone.

Is this still the same with the new game, Tien?

From the FAQ in post #3

"Q: What if I wanted to purchase a Property but the books chosen for me are all outside the 280-420 page range?
A: Then, unfortunately, this means that you can not purchase the property.

Q: Can I ask the picker to pick 280-420 pages books?
A: No. It's the picker's prerogative to choose your books."
