The farther you get through the books and seasons you can expect more variety. But most of the main story lines are consistent with a few changes. I feel they left out some characters in the show or consolidated several characters into one. A big complaint of the books was trying to keep track of all the characters. Of course, now the TV show is past all the books. Can't wait to read how Martin writes the rest. By the way, Storm of Swords is the third book. Clash of Kings is #2. Storm of Swords was my favorite.
