C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Heartless is one I haven't decided if I'll read or not. I enjoyed the Lunar Chronicles, but I didn't love them. So I'm really not sure if it's something I want to read.

I really liked Cinder, didn't get to the rest of series though. I just didn't enjoy Heartless, I was really disappointed.

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Was there something specific you didn't enjoy? Or just the overall story?

message 54: by Colleen (new)

Colleen Scidmore (colleensreadingadventures) | 968 comments It dragged to me, so boring. Way too many pages and way to many stupid characters for what you know is already going to happen. It's a given how it turns out but there were other things that I guessed right off the bat. There were a couple surprises but too much was easy to guess.

message 55: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments I see. Sometimes stories like that really work and other times not so much. Too bad you didn't like it more.

Kaylin (The Re-Read Queen) (kaylin_14) C P wrote: "Kaylin, I'm interested in City of Thieves. When were you planning to read that one? I might be able to fit that in this month."

I don't have a set plan for it. I was thinking more towards the end of the month, though. :)

message 57: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments The end of the month should work for me. I need to get it from the library. Do you want to say the 25th to start?

The 25th sounds great!

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments How is everyone doing? Are you able to get some reading time so far in this new year?

I finished a book last night, just have to figure out where it fits. I'm hoping to finish another today between the work I have to get done.

message 63: by Colleen (new)

Colleen Scidmore (colleensreadingadventures) | 968 comments That's great Courtney! :)

I'm going to try and finish one of my library books that won't fit the challenge today. And then I have a book lined up to start reading that will fit the challenge.

message 64: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Hope you enjoy them, Colleen!

message 65: by Kaylin (new)

Kaylin (The Re-Read Queen) (kaylin_14) The new year has been busier for me than I expected, so I haven't had much time to sit and read as I would like.

I have been listening to Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë this past week, because I decided to read/listen to more classics this year. Not sure it will fit the challenge yet, but I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would! :)

message 66: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Wuthering Heights is an interesting read. I've read it twice now. Every time the words "unreliable narrator" are mentioned, it is immediately what comes to mind. We had some interesting discussions about this in a class I took in college.

Exactly! I feel like the whole story wouldn't be nearly as interesting without the unique second-hand narration. It took me a little while to get used to, but it puts such an interesting perspective on things.

I can certainly see why it's taught in so many classes, as it keeps making me think and question things!

message 68: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Definitely. I don't remember finding it so interesting the first time I read it. But two of my classes in college discussed it and there were some great discussions.

So far I've read 20 books this year (8 books that count for this challenge) but I find I've slowed down from the beginning of the year. I have one book I need to review but I'm just not feeling like doing that right now. :/

I'm also reading my 9th book for the challenge. :)

Kaylin (The Re-Read Queen) (kaylin_14) I finished my first two books for this challenge! Working on reviews now!

Yesterday was my birthday and my mothers, and today is my father's birthday, so I have been mostly spending time with family and friends. :)

But I just started:
The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett by Chelsea Sedoti

message 85: by Kaylin (last edited Jan 17, 2017 12:11PM) (new)

Kaylin (The Re-Read Queen) (kaylin_14) So I recently finished The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett by Chelsea Sedoti where the main character spends the whole book advocating for a theory the a girl has gone missing because she actually turned into a werewolf. She spends most of the book researching werewolves, dreaming about werewolves and talking about them. It's a contemporary, so it's quite clear there are no actual wolves.

Would I still be able to count this for #9 on my playlist? (Read a book that features werewolves/wolves.)

message 86: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 8238 comments Yes, Kaylin. I think that's fine. Since it sounds like a lot of the focus is on werewolves, whether they actually show up or not.

Colleen Scidmore (colleensreadingadventures) | 968 comments Thanks Courtney! I finished yesterday and am back to the challenge. I started Fifty Shades Darker. I'm not a big fan but my BF loves the books and we are going to see the movie so I wanted to read the book first. The first movie sucked bad but I've heard the second one is better.
