 CHECK-INs
Each player must check-in a minimum of once a week following the shelf announcement. Individual team members who fall 3 books behind will be removed from the challenge. Let your teammates know which book you will be reading. We are understanding of RL issues that may arise throughout the game keeping you from posting, however, this is a TEAM challenge. Interaction from all team members is essential.
 BOOK CHOICES
~ All books chosen for the challenge must (1) fit the exact ŷ shelf link provided, (2) fit the category provided, or (3) fit the Free Space Rules in order to qualify.
~ All books must be 200+ pages. Graphic novels are not allowed. Since our group focus is on PNR & UF series reads, I'd prefer to keep it to books of that nature, but it's not a requirement. Re-reads are allowed once throughout the entirety of the game. Anthologies, should they fit the category or shelf, are allowed.
~ [NEW: As of R17] Players may choose a book that fits one of the Alternative Reader's Choice Options in place of an announced shelf. Restrictions apply: Players may only use two alternate options per round and only one teammate alternate option allowed per shelf announcement
~ Teams may choose to read the same book or each team member can read a different book. However, each member is responsible for reading, rating & reviewing the book they chose for each shelf or category, even if the entire team read the same book.
~ Your FREE SPACE book can be read after the game starts, as soon as the first shelf is announced. Members can wait, if they choose, but all team members must read a FREE SPACE book before the team can get that stamp.
~ Don't like the book you chose? You may change your book choice at any time, assuming your new choice still fits the shelf or category requirement.
~ Re-Reads are not preferred, however they are allowed [Note: you may only re-read ONE book per round of bingo]; Anthologies are allowed, however all shorts within the book must be read and reviewed; All formats of a book (excluding children’s and middle grade books, as well as graphic novels) found on the appropriate shelf or category are allowed assuming the print book has a minimum of 200 pages.
~ Since our group focus is on PNR & UF series reads, I'd prefer to keep book choices to those of that nature, but it's not a requirement.
 READING REQUIREMENT
~ Number of books to be read per week/weekly shelf announcements:
Regular Rounds - 1
Speedy Rounds - 2
+ 1 Free Space book, per game
~ There is no time limit, per se. If you do not complete your book in one week, you may continue reading until finished. But, remember ... your team will not get credit for the shelf (by way of a stamp on your team's card) until your rating and review are posted on the team thread. And, whether you've finished reading your book(s) or not, you must check-in with your team at least once a week.
~ [As of R14] To win Bingo, every called shelf must be stamped. (i.e. - each player on the winning team must have read, rated and reviewed a book for every shelf called and must have received a stamp for all shelves called)
 REVIEWS
After a member has finished reading their book, they must post a read date, a 1-5 rating and a review* on their team thread.
*Note: Your review does not have to win any awards for its grammar or prose, however all reviews must be longer than "I really dis/liked it." Include what you did/n't like about it, if you'll read anything else in the series or by the same author, and anything else that made it a stand-out or crapped-out read for you. Please do not simply link to your GR review. You may, however, share a link to it along with your review on your team thread. Link-only and 1-line reviews will not be accepted.
 HOW TO WIN
B-I-N-G-O is achieved by:
(1) Each member of a team read a book found on all of the announced shelves and posted their read date, rating and review allowing the team to receive a stamp
(2) The stamped shelves result in "5 in a row" (horizontal, vertical or diagonal) -OR- match the round's specific winning pattern
~ [NEW: As of July 2024]
DISQUALIFIER: Throughout the game, if a player must drop out, we will do our best to find that team a replacement player. At times, that's not possible; in those situations we will likely allow a team to continue with fewer players. However, if a player must leave the game during the week of a potential winning shelf announcement, no replacement player will be asked to fill their spot, which will disqualify the team from winning.
The first team to accomplish that WINS!
