So I've been thinking recently about exposure, marketing, advertising etc and realized how important it is for anyone starting a business, but also how blogs are kind of the TV Ad, for the Indie publishers. A lot of blogs I notice, sell space, or tours, or the waiting list is a mile long and you may not get the feedback you need in time especially, when/if you have a new release coming out like I do and many others.
Also it seems every last author I've met has a blog on their site too so I'd like to start a blog "tour"? (not sure if that's the right word for this) of sorts, where for instance, on my blog I'd post about Alexis, have her answer some questions about herself, add the book blurb and her images and links (which I was just afforded this very awesome opportunity as well recently) and post it and in return Alexis would do that for the next person, and so on until it has come full circle back to me, or we organize a way to run them simultaneously so everyone is being featured on a ton of different blogs.
If we share these blog posts, and I mean everyone in the "Go-Round" with dedicated hashtags for that author and book, organize Thunderclaps for the release where everyone participates, perhaps we can generate our very own Marketing engine sourced by "Paying it Forward", instead of dollars that not everyone may be able to afford.
Maybe someone does get the attention of outside bloggers, where they get featured more prominently, which would be awesome, and maybe suggest other Authors they are working within the group to help them get exposure. Idk, I'm thinking out loud but itching to attempt it as well. Thoughts?

UPDATE: For those wanting to participate please fill out the form by clicking the link! Our first "Blog-Round" will commence next week! Those who've emailed, I have you on the list already.

UPDATE2: Hiatus until further notice

I love this idea. Perhaps we can each pick an indie book once a week to review as well- maybe we can coordinate it with when they run a promotion so people can get it at it's lowest price?

message 3: by Alexis (new)

Alexis | 861 comments Typing my name twice, means I show up in the thread, just so you know. It's not a bad idea, but I worry that not a lot of us have managed to build a large enough online presence to make a difference. I might be underestimating our combined powers though.

message 4: by N.N. (new)

N.N. Heaven (nnlight) I think what you're describing is called a blog hop. I take part in these several times a year, usually themed in some way (holiday, genre, etc.). It's a great idea but it takes a lot of organization. To make it worth the reader's while, authors donate for a "big" prize and on each individual blog, a small prize. The more authors that participate, the bigger the exposure will be.

I'd be happy to take part but not to organize.

MRS N

Power in numbers! Everybody started somewhere.

Ok this is good feedback. We can start small and grow into whatever it manifests into. As for prizes I'm not sure what we could offer but I'm sure some of us have larger audiences than others and I think it's worth a shot. I can organize it no problem

People always like signed books. I give a way lots of those. I did a contest where I let the person pick the next country I did. Someone else used the name of the winner in their novel.

How neat!! We def can do something like that! I guess the best thing would be to get a list going so anyone interested send me an email and a link to your blog so we can get the ball rolling! [email protected]

message 9: by Justin (new)

Justin (justinbienvenue) This sounds interesting! One thing I need to do is get more interactive with my blogs. Looking forward to this.

message 10: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I'd be interested-but later. My blog doesn't have an audience yet and I can't afford to buy books at the moment.

R.L. Jackson (authorrljackson) | 856 comments Mod
It's ok, the idea is to also help create the content on your blog. The audience will come. So if your featured on someone else and they go to your site, at least you'll have the opportunity to build with newsletter signups, etc. My idea is it can simply be an interview about the Author and the book with a later review to follow if you wish.

message 12: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
Yes, this is a great idea. You don't need to buy books, just feature different authors on your blog. They will look at it and spread it around, so that people will see your content and perhaps sign up. Julie is using all four or five of our blogs to round robin all the posts we've accepted from all of you. She intersperses with interesting articles or a review that I've written (on mine), or just plain old news. She then shares it on Facebook and Google and I guess that's how she's built up our audience. I mean, I think that is what she's doing.

message 13: by Amy (new)

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments I want to be able to buy books though. If some of you are reading mine it's only fair I read some of yours. I've put a couple on my wish list. I read at a snails pace though. No-one should hold their breath on that unless they're already sitting in a room with someone medical.

The beauty of books is they never expire or go stale. We can read a 2000 year old book and it can have the emotional impact of one published a month ago.

I know. I love to re read a book. It's like being cozy with an old friend.

Hey guys,
We have one spot left for the round coming up this week. We'd love to have ya!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Just filled out the form! Would love to participate and help promote books. I may not necessarily have time to read and review, but would love to help out by promoting someone's work

message 21: by Carole (new)

Carole P. Roman | 4665 comments Mod
It doesn't have to be a review. It can be an article or just spreading the word about it. ;)

I'm sending the list for Blog Round 2 soon which is closed now. I encourage anyone to still sign up for the weeks ahead as well. Thanks everyone!

EDIT: Because I'm running on empty, my brain isn't working right and I cleared the responses before getting the new folks info. So this sign up with actually be for Round 6. If interested please sign up and I will comprise the list this week and the round will start AFTER our big event. Thanks and I apologise again

Groovy Lee This is a first time for me, so please be patient:

1. Am I correct in thinking the interview questions and answers will be sent to me, and I post them by Monday?

2. I write out my interview questions and answers and send them to appropriate blogger?

I have your questions, but they'll come to you through Julie. You'll send them back to her, because she handles my blog. I think you have questions for me. You can send them to my email. [email protected] and I'll get them right back to you through Julie. She has to attach everything for me.

Amy Hamilton | 2560 comments Question-who sets the questions for the interviews?

message 47: by Kay (new)

I've emailed out the questions for my four interviews (R.L. Carole Jenn Alex) but I've been known to mistype email addresses so please let me know if you haven't received them!

I finished two interviews- Julie has them and will mail them when she's done with her Facebook thing. She has to attach all the stuff that goes with it.
