What I liked most about the book is that it isn't merely a humourist sci go novel, but often offers evilly clever and acidly sarcastic comments on our reality - as much as Discworld isn't merely a fantasy series or parody of such. Adams's book may be almost 40 years old, but many of these "remarks" on humankind and life still hit the spot today, in my opinion.
What I found weird is how badly the lectorate seems to have worked: my copy holds two obviously wrong words that I've noticed - pavement for payment, and guest for host... very strange.
I also have a favourite quote:
"Life, loathe it or ignore it, you can't like it." Marvin, of course...

I did love that Stephen Fry was the Narrator of the audio format I listened to.
Glad I read it so I will now understand references made to the book without them having to be explained.
Over all Glad to have read the novel but don't think I will ever read it again.

This is my personal opinion though! I don't always come up with appropriate voices per character in my head lol. Stephen Fry does a fantastic job of deep over powering voices, little mouse squeaks, and doomed singing for Ed.
For the overall story, I was cracking up in several places! Then, in other places I found myself really wanting to skip parts. But I didn't. :)
Not entirely sure yet, but I might read the rest of the series. It took me a long time to get to this one, so I most likely will way down the road from now.

It was phenomenal, Lindsay and Winter! I listened to Stephen Fry reading HP4 when I was younger on cassette tape... brilliant! Lol. Jim Dale reads the US versions, and he also does an amazing job.
But with Hitchiker's Guide, the voices he created is something I know I couldn't have done if I read it. I'll most likely also be listening to him for The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

I'm still disappointed so I might have to re-read it on paper soon.
