At the 11th hour, Sinister Grin Press came to us and offered to have none other than the man himself, Greg F. Gifune, join us in our Group Read in February. If you're wondering where the poll went for voting which Gifune story we were going to read as a group, I pulled it in favor of being able to read Greg's newest story with him. I get excited when such awesome things fall in our lap like this. Because of the timing, we're going to delay the start of the group read until Feb 10th and go until March 10th. This will allow us to drum up some support and excitement to bring in more people to join us in the read with Greg. We really appreciate him taking the time to do this with us, so let's do our best at bringing him the largest audience we can to make it worth his while. Without further ado, please help me welcome Greg F. Gifune!

Troy (robotroym) I'm looking forward to joining this group read. This will be my first book by Greg F. Gifune. I'm always excited to try new authors.

Jessie | 31 comments This will be my first book from him too. What is the title we will be reading?

Aoife Bambrick (dillidolli) | 16 comments Awesome news!

David Brian (davidbrian) I already have my copy of this. I'll hold off on making a start for a few weeks, it'll give me a chance to clear the deck of current reads.

So here's the deal on how to be eligible to win the limited-edition hardcover:

1 - Purchase and read the book with the group.
2- Participate in the discussion here.
3 - Give a review, good, bad, or otherwise, on Amazon.
4 - Keep your fingers crossed, rub a lucky rabbit's foot, horseshoe, etc.

That's it!

Vicki Willis Very cool and generous!
Thanks Greg!

Aoife Bambrick (dillidolli) | 16 comments Got my copy, haven't started yet, finishing off another read first. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in though.

Jennifer | 52 comments It's very rare for me to read a book in one sitting but I did. I really enjoyed it. That's all I'll say for now, let others read it before I go into details.

Fantastic story Greg, I'll definitely be reading more of your work!

David Brian (davidbrian) I'm up to chapter six, and it's fair to say things are getting 'very' interesting!
It's also fair to say that someone should kick Gino in the nuts! :)

Not just once, but at least twice for good measure.

Greg, what can you tell us about the cover? It has a nice, vintage look going on. Who designed it? Did you have any input into the design of it?

David Brian (davidbrian) Ken wrote: "Greg, what can you tell us about the cover? It has a nice, vintage look going on. Who designed it? Did you have any input into the design of it?"

Yeah, I'm loving that cover, Ken. Very retro!

I was siding with him instead of Herm from the beginning, and I'm glad I did!

Although in real life I think I'd find someone like Gino really annoying, but in their situation I would really appreciate having someone like Gino sorting things out for me.

The cover art is fantastic. I'm a huge Rob Zombie fan and this reminded me of that kind of style. Would you call it Grindhouse like?

Sinister Grin | 5 comments Ken wrote: "Greg, what can you tell us about the cover? It has a nice, vintage look going on. Who designed it? Did you have any input into the design of it?"

Zach McCain is the cover artist, and Greg had a great deal of input into the design. The cover went through a couple versions before landing on the design you have before you. Greg very specifically wanted a pulp feel and I think Zach nailed it.

Wade | 14 comments Gore and More noob here. Signed up just for the read along. Big horror fan but sadly Mr. Gifune's works have slipped past me til now. Found lots of reader praise and excellent ratings on all of his books. Looking forward to joining in.

Jennifer | 52 comments Ken, the front page on the group hasn't been updated to this book. Show off the fab cover ! :-P

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) As usual I'm late to the party. I'll try to start this one soon. I bought at the end of last year after this groups recommendation of the author and reading Children of Chaos

I also love the cover. It's reminds me of the fun movie posters I'd see in the video store when I was growing up.

message 48: by Wade (new) - rated it 4 stars

Wade | 14 comments That cover does scream pulp. Cover blurb certainly sounds like it will be in that vein. I should be starting on this tomorrow or day after that, trying to finish up my current read now.

Hey, Jennifer, you're coming across a bit Beach Barbie! Only kidding! :)
To be honest, if I was on that island Gino would be getting right up my nose. It's ok for him to try and take a lead, but there's no excuse for his bullying and belittling manner.

Children of Chaos was my favorite read from last year, Erin. Loved that one.
