D.W. Rigsby | 10 comments I need five people who love to read. I'm looking for feedback on a supernatural/mystery manuscript. I will have a questionnaire sent asking you specific questions, but also looking for your opinion.

I'll pay $30 to read my manuscript, answer questions and give me your feedback. If you are interested please email me â€ [email protected], and we can discuss further.

I use PayPal to transfer funds.

Once we start - I expect a 1-2 week turn around to read, answer questions, and provide feedback. This part is important.

The manuscript is roughly 70,000 words. I’m on my 5th round with it now. I’m half way through and expect to have it ready within the next week.
You can check out my web page - dwrigsby.com to see my other work and yes I'm the one in the pirate outfit. lol..

Please keep my work confidential until I've published. I'm a sort of secretive person, or just plain paranoid. :-)

This ad will close after I've identified five people and the project started.

Thank You,
Doug

D.W. Rigsby | 10 comments H Ana,

I'm actually trying to get my cover design completed. I'm also having my book edited by Rm Story Consulting, after that I'm going to hire a tech editor and proof reader to finish it off. I am however going to be looking for folks who want to review my book. I will be giving those folks a free ebook gift via Amazon. If interested let me know.

Thank You,

Doug

D.W. Rigsby | 10 comments This is the service I'm using. I didn't realize Roughseasinthemed offered similar services. Good to know.

Not that similar as I do an all-in package really. I haven't advertised for ages as I'm booked for a couple of months at the moment. So, no point wasting people's time.

My, somewhat flippant, point, was that even if they don't do grammar, spelling, punctuation, they might want to get someone to check over their copy. No more, no less.

Truth is, if you are happy with their services, that's good. But having to pay two or three times can work out expensive .

D.W. Rigsby | 10 comments Agree. This service is free for me. :-) But the dividends are immense. I let Lydia know the error and to have it corrected. She's doing that now.

I'll provide an example of my experiences with other story editing services. This happened more than once but here is one experience.

I paid $3K for such services to a company for a story I wrote. They did the tech edit - great there - the story edit suffered. I'd say they provided me two dozen comments? It wasn't many. I had them redo the story edit again. Still similar results.

I knew there were holes in my story. I then turned around and gave it to Lydia at RMStoryConsulting (yes we are married if you have figured out) She provided me 670 comments - basically tore apart my story. I was in a little shock but I needed it if I was to become a better writer.

She didn't hold back which I was glad for it. Since then I have her do all my story edits because she has a natural talent, and studies the art and has for years. She knows character and story extremely well and has a treasure trove of information in her mind. It's like a vault. I don't know how she remembers scenes from movies or books in such detail - amazing really.

The value she brings is vetting out my story before it goes to tech edits. It will save money, and help me as an author to avoid the pitfalls of putting in hundreds of hours into a story when my story isn't even going anywhere. I've been writing now in my spare time for 10 years.

We appreciate the call out and we want to correct it. I will go over her site in-depth to make sure we make it as error free as possible. It should be. Thank you.

Doug

Fair enough if your partner does a good story edit.

$3K is a bit OTT depending on the quality of your MS?

I do more for a $50 beta read.

If my comment helps, you're welcome, there were a few others

D.W. Rigsby | 10 comments I'm always on a look out for great editors, and beta readers. I work in process all day - it's from working in software quality assurance for years and I'm seeing the same discipline must be applied to writing. As with new code - we have beta testers to capture the problems, and report them and engineers to make corrections. Same with writing - beta readers to report the issues, the writer must decide how to correct. My next book - I would love your feedback through a beta read. I am so grateful to hear other's opinions on my work that it nearly bursts from my heart.

Give me notice as I'm usually booked in advance, as I said above.
