Sorry I've been so lax on this. Just updated the bookshelves. Has anyone started this yet? I'm still reading Five Smooth Stones. Will need to request Expecting Adam from the library as I don't want to buy another book right now.
I'm going in early tomorrow morning for the other hip replacement. Wish me luck. I hope to do some reading & crocheting while there. I've come down with shingles. What next??? LOL

Haven't even looked into Five Smooth Stones ...
Hope you were able to go ahead with the hip replacement, though I imagine a case of shingles may have delayed it. In any case, I wish you a speedy recovery. A very good friend had both his hips replaced last year (Left in May / Right in Dec).
Surgery went great!! I'm so happy to have it done. Now to get through 2 nights in the hospital. I should be home in48 hours.
I got home yesterday afternoon. My son & husband are taking great care of me. It's really sore, but seems to be healing well. Great reading time!! LOL

Oh, glad to hear your recovery is moving along smoothly.
Notified that my book has arrived at the library. I'll pick it up on Saturday when I make my weekly visit....

Expecting Adam Martha N Beck
3.5***, rounded up
The subtitle of this memoir is: A True Story of Birth, Rebirth, and Everyday Magic. Beck writes well, and she is very honest about what she went through. Her self-deprecating humor is refreshing, and a few scenes had me laughing out loud.

I agree 100% with your review. I struggled with her frequent use of the r-word, but this was written in the late 90s. My son's diagnosis at that time was MMR (mild mental retardation). Thankfully, that word is no longer part of our professional language. I ended up loving the book.
