July group read - nominate a book set in two different time periods

Not sure if this will appeal to the masses but its what I plan on reading :)

I've already read it, but it has stayed with me after 10+ years. Excellent book.

Fannie Flagg
Another bit of women's history you probably didn't know about set within a modern day story. Humor, family relationships, and unexpected twists as well as the historical story makes this a great beach read for July.
