Player Discussion Thread
For those of you who are planning on participating in Ezi's Super Series and Super SPEEDY Series that's starting soon, please consider whether you have the time to commit to starting a Monopoly game right now.
If you think it might be a concern, you are welcome to come looking for a partner(s) after SS and SSS is over.

Correct.
Correct.
Maddison wrote: "I also have a question: Are there different amounts of rent for each property? Or is it just the 1 location of 2 other tasks per space?"
When you land on a city, you will read 1 book (or the 2 optional books) to get the stamp on your passport. If someone has already collected the stamp, you will still read 1 book, either set in that country or from the 2 optional choices.

That's what i thought, but just wanted to make sure

Tiffany, I read about the same amount of books.
Would you like to play at game with me?

Sure! That sounds fun!

Does it have to be started after you get the task or just finished?

Yes, it needs to be started after you get the task.
I'll set up a thread for us. Do you want to keep track of when the passport stamps get collected, or shall I?

Stormie, you're welcome to join Tiffany and me in our game. We read about the same amount and we haven't started yet.

Jackie and Jim, you've both indicated that you read a book a week.
You should play a game together.

Maddison wrote: "Would Percy Jackson count as a book set on an island?"
I don't know which Percy Jackson book you're referring to. I've only read The Lightning Thief, and that was a long time ago. I remember Percy traveling to Las Vegas during the story. If Percy spends at least 1/3 of the book on an island, then it should count.

Maddison wrote: "Does it have to be a tropical island? Or could it be like Manhattan/New Zealand? Just places surrounded by water?"
Any island will do. I read a lot of Regency romances, so my island would probably be England :)

Thank you, I would love to. Do I post this on the sign-up thread now or what? :)

Nope. All I need to do is add your name to our game. Head on over and roll.

Mary wrote: "What's the rule for rolling doubles? Can I take the spot the doubles lead me to, or do I have to roll again and move on from there?"
There is no special rule for doubles. Take the spot your roll takes you to.

I tried messaging Jackie but their account isn't taking new messages. So let's give it till tonight to see if Jackie sees this post. If not, we can do a 2-person game which is also allowed :)

What type of game are you looking for, Christine? A fast game or a slower game?

I'd be willing to play with you.

When you say 'fast', how many books a week is that, Wolf?

Around 10-15.
I'll read at whatever pace needed.
I'm looking for a game too. I attempt to read a book a week.
Books mentioned in this topic
Love & Gelato (other topics)Love & Gelato (other topics)
The Lightning Thief (other topics)
Games can be between 2-4 players.
When you're seeking for a partner(s), mention what kind of game you're looking for or your reading speed. For example, I read really fast, so I'd probably work better playing against someone else who reads really fast. Or, I read one book a week, so a slower paced game would be better for me.
I will post Q & A's here for quick reference:
Question: Once the passport stamp has been collected by someone, no one else can collect it, right? One passport stamp per space?"
Answer: Correct.
Question: Are there different amounts of rent for each property? Or is it just the 1 location of 2 other tasks per space?"
Answer: When you land on a city, you will read 1 book (or the 2 optional books) to get the stamp on your passport. If someone has already collected the stamp, you will still read 1 book, either set in that country or from the 2 optional choices.
Question: Is there a spreadsheet function we can access to help us keep track of the stamps?
Answer: No. What was done on the old Monopoly game was that one of the players would volunteer to keep track of the properties and who owned them. You or your opponent should post the list of the cities and update it when stamps are collected.
Question: I finished a book a few days ago that fit with my task. Can I use it or do I need to read a book after I received the task?
Answers: It needs to be a book you started after you received the task.
Question: What's the rule for rolling doubles?
Answer:There is no special rule for doubles. Take the spot your roll takes you to.
