Now @ page 131. Seems this may be a Marmite book & unsure which way l shall go. Probably not a good choice for readers looking for a thriller offering a quick & easy story but the range of characters & varying POVs is intriguing.

I started this a couple of weeks ago when the copy arrived at my library for me. I have to say I bailed around page 50 and returned it.
I think it was too complex for what was going on in my life at the time. Guess I'm a 'not Marmite fan' in this case.

There did seem to be too many POVs, but I was also frustrated by the lack of progress in the story line when it moved from one to another.

This book had the perfect plot, Katie and her affair with Mark her school teacher and the rape of Jess when she was a teenager. This story did not have a big cliff hanger ending but the ends were neatly tied. In my review I mentioned this book reminded me of a Midsummer Murder full of dark secrets, sex and betrayal in a sleepy English village.
My review is up on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ & on my blog billkupersmith.blog. What I
most liked was Hawkins' going against the typecasting both for the police & the victims. But if you like conventional straightforward thrillers you'll be frustrated. May put some more specific remarks in the spoiler thread.
